Not the same.... but my my 1.8 had the same sort of fault and the diagnostic said MAF however a suggestion pointed me in the direction of the Temp Sender( top of the head right hand front) £10 and a 19mm spanner = sorted.

If you don't help people, explain about legal lanes etc, The risk is they just drive anywhere they like and get every ones back up. I know some do anyway, but educating is better than letting them have free for all. And if there is a wider knowledge of legal lanes then the more well known...

Drill out two large(socket sized) holes in the plastic and then pop a grommet back in when you have finished. Unless you get down and grovel on the floor you can't see them.
