    Gearbox Issues / TD5

Hmm sounds a good idea, I'll give that a try, thanks Bush :) (only thing is, the R380 seems very sensitive to the viscosity of the oil, I once tried to save on teh cost of oil and filled with a cheaper, but slightly thicker oil, and the change quality was awful, especially when cold, couldn't...

Disco11 TD5 Air Suspension Help please

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE I have had it suggested that I routinely raise the rear suspension to full height (off road mode) and give the 'air bags' a good wash with a hose (or pressiure washer) to help remove any build up of mud and grit . . . When in 'normal height' the bottom end folds...

    Gearbox Issues / TD5

The TD5 gearboxes (R380) are notorious for being grindy, and generally noisier than say a car !! Mine started making 'noises' at about 50k, it's now clocked 97k and has NOT got any worse (or any better) I do now regulary change the oil, (every 15 - 20k) using the correct Texaco MTF94 oil

    Oil Consumption

Not always, your compression rings could be fine (good power output) but yer oil control rings could be buggered, hence oil consumption high . . . Assuming no obvious 'bad' leaks, then it can only be burning it !!!

    TD5 tc

The TC works by using the ABS brake system and is fully automatic . . when a wheel starts to turn faster than the average rotation speed of the remaing wheels the system applies the brake to the faster wheel, which causes the drive to 'transfer' to the other wheels via the differential !! You...

MOT - passed last year (1st one) took it to Kwikfit (ONLY cos I got a free voucher from the insurer) What a farce, the guy testing it DID NOT have a clue about 4x4's, tried to do a brake test on a roller for 2WD vehicles, until I ran shouting at him, he said he'd have to disconnect the prop...
