    Steering Wheel Removal.

You don't need to remove the steering wheel to re-centre it in a Disco . . . Underneath the car there is a steering link bar which connects the drop arm from the steering box to the nearside hub, it's the one at the front !!! this has a pinch bolt and threaded end, loosen the pinch bolt and...

    Miles

I have a newer Disco series 2 TD5, it has clocked 136,600 miles in just 50 months from new, but I hardly exceed 60-65 mph, it hardly ever does less than 40 miles as a single journey, and I rarely exceed 3000 rpm . . . and I service the engine myself every 10-12k inc both filters - well on it's...

    Which Discovery?

I have a TD5 manual 2004 (July) so one of the last to be made, alough you occasionally see a 54 plate, but they are few and far between. It's clocked almost 136k now, with little problems, I have replaced the discs all round at 120k, it's still on it's second set of tyres as well (BF Goodrich...

    Gear box drain plug r380

I use a pair of 'Stilsons' - the tighten as you put move leverage on them !!! One of my mates dilled and tapped the nut, and fitted a small allen grub screw to act as a drain - avoids the problem in the future !!!

    towbar electrics for caravan

Yes there is a socket already fitted, it's behind the off side rear light, just undo the screws, remove the light, and look down wards inside, you'll see a socket with a plastic cap. You can wire one up yourself, but it is far easier to bite the bullet and get the LR wiring loom, it is very...

Can anyone help due in court on fri !!

I think you have a good case against the police, based on my understanding of what happened - I STRONGLY suggest you seek legal help, try and get a 'no win, no fee' deal with a motoring specialist solicitor . . . . you may still face a fine, but better than getting points. I took on the...

    Graunching Noise

There is no relation between the hand brake and the foot brakes on a disco, the HB is a drum fitted to the rear prop shaft, and obviously the FB's work on the wheel discs. It sounds like worn out rear pads, have you checked them ?? There will always be 'play' when turning a wheel by hand...

    Visteon CD problem.

Hi, The Visteon unit is held in by clips, not allen screws (as some earlier ones are) you can get it out without the special 'keys' (which are sold in the likes of Halfords etc) I used two short lengths of electrical cable, the solid copper core type from 2.5mm twin & earth house cable, bent...

    Air Suspension

Not always the compressor, more likely to be the ride height sensors, the little cranked arms and small square box attached between the chassis and the rear trailing arms !! Be very careful if you 'tinker' or change components though, you should have it checked out by a main stealer (or...

brake light fuse keeps a blowing

fuses - or just A fuse ? The only way a fuse blows is cos of over current, or a dead short, take the blown fuse out, and get a multimeter test on it to see what you got. Could be a chaffed wire shorting out to earth (chassis/body) somewhere !!
