    devils bridge to istanbul

You have probably been right outside my house at the top of Cwmystwyth as there is a well used green lane over the mountain with a ford at the top right opposite. Ever fancy a few lanes let me know as ive go most mapped and have driven a few (too many in a 20 mile radius to have driven them all)

    Oi Oi Welshers

Yeah Leon32 live in Cwmystwyth so have green lanes right on my doorstep. Cant find a local club though you know of anything

    Timing belt & valve damage

ive made a stupid schoolboy error. Had the timing belt out of my 2.5na (not sure but think its a 12j engine) and had a mind funk when I put it back together. Got the injector pump and crank lined up at TDC but must have not done so for the pulley for the valves as when I Turned it over to bleed...

    devils bridge to istanbul

inspired by a GWR poster I am thinking about doing a road trip from The Hafod Hotel in Devils Bridge in Mid Wales to Istanbul in my TD5 110 summer next year. Perhaps some gentle off roading near the start and a nice drive down through belgium, netherlands Germany czech rep, Austria Hungary...

    recommissioning 2.5na engine

Where is the engine mark on a 2.5 na. My truck has been messed about so much I dont know if I am looking at a 12j or 19j engine and want to make sure so I know where the timing marks in the timing belt case are before I take it apart

    recommissioning 2.5na engine

Ok need some help now setting up the timing. Rave manual shows you can set the cav fuel pump timing through the inspection plate in the timing belt casing however, when I tried to do mine this morning I got the flywheel to TDC but you cant see the hole in the pulley on the injector pump that...

    110 Transmission Clunk

My TD5 the clunk on take up was the bearings on the drive spiggot out of the engine block that the flywheel sits on were worn possibly because I have a heavy duty flywheel and there was a lot of play. When I rebuilt the engine earlier this year that bearing was replaced and other than...

Hard to drive smooth at slow speed

As paul D said but if all of those are OK when did you last change your clutch? If your clutch is worn or contaminated it can slip if you ride it to get smooth traction at low revs. Slipping at higher revs is less noticeable you just wont have had as much power

    Mid/West Wales

Im in Ceredigion too. Up valley by the elan dams. Been here for four years and missing a bit of petrol/diesel head ofroading banter Is there a 4x4 club anywhere near here?

    What is happening here

No we dont know for sure but looking at the footage it starts next to a green lane/track, my bet is they tried to ford it. Too many people lack the experience (or common sense) to know that 4x4s are not invincible, Like those guys who took their newish Defender up the track at water break its...

    recommissioning 2.5na engine

Sorry Flossie, was not casting aspersions about the injector pump I bought from you but always have to consider that there is an outside chance this could be the problem!

    What is happening here

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-45597902 Pretty obvious but I would not have tried to ford a river in spate in my prepared landrover unless I really had to. I would never consider doing it in a standard road 4x4 (fortunately no idiots were harmed in the making of this video)

    recommissioning 2.5na engine

Finally got round to bleeding the fuel injectors but cant get her started not an inkling of trying to fire. It was always difficult to start and needed lots of glowplug heating. On the fitting I followed the Haynes manual. Made a mark on the old pump and casing before removing it. Matched that...

    recommissioning 2.5na engine

Still not got round to completing this (just fuel to do) as I have to work outside and the weather has been against me. stoopid question but saves hours of looking through the rave manual. the cylinders on the 2.5na are numbered 1-4 front to back yes?

Is this the oldest TD5 alternator?

    Cheers buddy will look

Is this the oldest TD5 alternator?

Honestly I dont know how its lasted so long. But as I said everything on her has gone on to last gasp before giving up apart from normal wear and tear replacements in the drive chain and bodywork issues like hinges, up until this year I have only had to replace the power steering box.

Is this the oldest TD5 alternator?

always been proud of how bombproof my TD5 has been despite how badly I have treated her she has tried her hardest not to let me down even running on for six months with a cracked cylinder head (with a bit of steelseal.... I have since rebuilt the engine to as new factory standards but with an...

    recommissioning 2.5na engine

Thanks again old seadog. no didnt drain the engine down of oil just lost some when I removed the oil filter to get to the injector pump. It was more the fuel I was worried about and you have answered my question beautifully
