As paul D said but if all of those are OK when did you last change your clutch? If your clutch is worn or contaminated it can slip if you ride it to get smooth traction at low revs. Slipping at higher revs is less noticeable you just wont have had as much power

Honestly I dont know how its lasted so long. But as I said everything on her has gone on to last gasp before giving up apart from normal wear and tear replacements in the drive chain and bodywork issues like hinges, up until this year I have only had to replace the power steering box.

Thanks again old seadog. no didnt drain the engine down of oil just lost some when I removed the oil filter to get to the injector pump. It was more the fuel I was worried about and you have answered my question beautifully
