    Rear floor RIP

Had a look under my boot carpet earlier. The floor is shafted:( Is that sound proof stuff supposed to come off easy? It seems stuck down or is it just sticking to the rust??? I searched previous posts about rear floor and found a couple but theirs didn't seem quite the same in that the...

    axle axle axle

Ta for the links, now I see what I was supposed to get! I think the bridging compound has done the trick though but I'll use this stuff next time.

    axle axle axle

Yeah I know I brought it on myself... I asked for chemical metal and the guy in the car shop looked at me as if I was crazy then pointed me at the body fillers, fibreglass etc. I saw a picture of a boat on the fibreglass packet and thought boats ain't supposed to leak. At that...

    axle axle axle

Getting back to the question, I tried to fix mine at the weekend and made a right arse of it. I tried to use that fibreglass stuff where you get a fibre mat and then you dab resin all over it. It was either a **** idea or I made a hash of it. Anyway once I was done, it leaked worse than when...

    Disco Workshop Manual Pdf

Don't think there is an official PDF for '94 discos and earlier. I spent ages trying to find one and gave up and got a paper one second hand. I did find a scanned french pre 95 manual in PDF but it made no sense to me. It's easy to find a '95 onwards PDF though.

Sheared bracket on transmission to rear axle??!? Help!

Yep I'd say that was broken. You might have to take the whole prop shaft off to replace that rubbery bit so go and make sure you can loosen the bolts both ends otherwise you might need to buy one of these: http://www.difflock.com/multistore/DF180 Also if you get emule (one of those file...

Sheared bracket on transmission to rear axle??!? Help!

Is that meant to be the rear prop shaft (the bit that connects the transfer gearbox to the rear axle) ??? If so, it looks to me like somebody has cobbled together some old scrap metal instead of getting a new part. It looks nothing at all like mine but I have a 200tdi. I think the 300 should...

    200tdi- bit of advice please?

Next time you have a look at it, push the floor just inside the back door, if it's crunchy, you might need to get it sorted sooner than you think! You might be able to haggle the price down on that too. If the seller agrees, you could take the 6 screws out of the plastic bit just inside the...

    Haynes manual - ****e?

Spent ages searching all sorts of websites, emule, bit torrent etc and came up with a scanned 200tdi pdf workshop manual - in french  Bollocks. So I gave up and bought a 2nd hand paper copy off ebay. It looks great, highly recommend it with lots of detail and pretty pictures etc. I...

argh, steering, props & noisy in neutral

Yes the noise is very obviously different (quieter) when the clutch pedal goes down. In fact I'd say there was no chatter with the clutch pedal down but it's hard to say for sure - the 200tdi isn't exactly quiet. That other site describes the same symptoms but says the chattering noise comes...

Any way to tell the difference (without taking it all apart)?

argh, steering, props & noisy in neutral

I found a website that described my clutch noise and they reckon it's not a problem, just a design feature! http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/faq.html "My gearbox rattles on idle, in neutral, with the clutch up This is very common on both the 200 and the 300 TDi engined vehicles. The...

    Haynes manual - ****e?

Thanks for the opinions. That dodgy foreign website had plenty of land rover manuals but didn't seem to have any disco manuals on it and searching the web and other forums for answers unearthed precisely fek all. I will continue the internet hunt tonight and if I find any good stuff (dicovery...

    Haynes manual - ****e?

I get the impression that some folks on here reckon the Haynes manual is a steaming pile of poo. Having used it myself to do a service and a couple of other bits, it seems OK to me but then I don't know very much. I hear you can get an electronic copy of the proper LR service & repair...

argh, steering, props & noisy in neutral

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check out that ball joint. I'll post again if I get my clutch thing sorted (but looking unlikely for now - not much spare cash and too big a job for me). I only just got round do doing my servicing, although I did find one of my knocking noises - the jack was a...

    Intermittent non start

This sounds exactly like what happened to me (although it was my other car - a golf - not my trusty disco) and it was the starter motor.

argh, steering, props & noisy in neutral

Eh? The other end and the rear prop UJs are rock solid, no movement at all. The bit inside the UJ is moving between the 2 sides of the yoke thingy. Are you saying this is OK to have this movement???

argh, steering, props & noisy in neutral

Hello Been trying to sort out all the niggles on my Disco 200Tdi but seem to find more problems - latest batch: 1. Steering - full left lock makes the left wheel rub on the radius arm - I'm hoping this is just a case of adjusting the steering stop bolt. Is this an easy job? 2. My front...

    car juddering at high speed

i had this on a car i used to have - i'd bought some cheap tyres and one of them went out of shape which caused juddering at motorway speeds.
