    difflock broken

Thanks grunt - is the difflock on or off in that pic, do you know?

    difflock broken

Yes if you could get a pic, that would be much appreciated. I've just been informed that we're off to a nephews birthday party so my plans have gone out the window for today anyway :-( Fun.

    difflock broken

Had a crack at it this afternoon and am now confused. From what I gather, the common problem is the linkages seizing up but mine seem fine. When I work the lever, I can see all the bits moving until the last bit (the shiny bit with the nut on top in the pic). This moves a little bit and then...

urgent help with 300tdi disco please!

when was your last service? The first things I'd check are air filter, fuel filter and fuel sedimenter. Also, you might have air in the fuel system since you had the tank off - unscrew the thing on the fuel filter and pump the lever until fuel with no air bubbles comes out.

    difflock broken

Thanks ormus, that looks pretty comprehensive.

    difflock broken

Thanks yd, I will try that at the weekend. Are the handbrake bits easy to put back together?

    If I wanted perfect handling

For the use once grease in the swivel pin housing, there should be a sticker under the bonnet to say it's been done. My 200tdi is fine on the motorway up to 90 (the car can't go any faster than that) but I wouldn't want to try going round any kind of bend at that speed in it! Maybe your...

    difflock broken

Tried to use my diff lock at the weekend and it wouldn't go in :( - the lever wouldn't budge over. Tried engine running / not running, transfer in H/N/L and while driving slowly forwards and back but it wasn't having any of it. High and low are fine though. I've got a 200tdi L reg...

    Advice needed

Sounds a bit pricey to me for a '95, maybe you could knock them down a bit or at least get some kind of warranty if you're buying from a dealer. Listen out for clunking noises when taking up drive (moving off & changing gear) - I don't know if they'd fixed the design of the transfer box gear...

    What type and size tyres???

don't buy budget tyres - they are a waste of money. Twice I've tried them and both times had to replace them pretty soon after - one went pear shaped and caused a vibration. The other time, the tyres (two on the front) made the car veer to one side - on replacing with proper tyres, the problem...

    Alarming problem!

I bought a fob from Remote Key too and my 200tdi now has remote locking again. Had no idea it should have it until I saw this thread and had a look under the dash for the box...

    Differential dying?

Does the rubber donut thing that attaches the prop shaft to the diff look ok?

    Hazard lights

Had another look at the wiring diagram. The white gets routed through to the purple/brown when the hazard switch is off, so as you say works the indicators when ignition is on. With the hazard switch on, it connects the purple/brown to the battery +ve and disconnects the white wire. So...

    Hazard lights

The flasher unit is the same for the indicators and hazards. I'm guessing the fault is most likely in the hazard light switch.. According to the haynes manual, the flasher unit is either in or behind the passenger compartment fusebox. Green/white wires go to RH lights Green/red go to LH...

    strange "ticking" noise . . .

I've had that weird ticking noise too but it's only happened twice (94 200Tdi). Really odd. Definitely seems to be coming from the instrument panel, got quite loud and fast when I got up to 50 and slowed down with the car. Definitely related to speed rather than revs. When I used the car...

    Hazard lights

I just noticed mine were acting up too the other day but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I only get the right hand indicators flashing but none on the left, yet they work fine as indicators and when the car is locked. Is that your wagon in the picture? It looks the same as mine...

    How Much ??!!

I'd say the labour is about right (my 200tdi just had a similar job) but the £700 seems steep to me. Mine hadn't broke yet but was clunking like hell, they took out the box and replaced the transfer gear and mainshaft. I think these two parts cost about £400 for both, I'll check...

    200Tdi insurance

Thanks for the replies. Just tried More Than as suggested and got quoted £279, that'll do me. Also, they don't ask a load of BS questions which avoids my problem of finding out if it's got an immobiliser. More Than reckon I have a 1993 200TDI 'S' but I still can't find a detailed...

What MPG can you realistically get from a Landy/Disco?

I've got a 94L 200Tdi - reset trip count after last fill-up, did 480 miles, 80 litres of bio diesel went in. So 6 miles/litre, about 27 miles/gallon - 4.55 litres to a UK gallon. My journey to work is down, up, down, up hills though so you'd probably get better mileage than this. Hope that...

    200Tdi insurance

Hi All, I'd forgotten how boring getting insurance was. Almost bored me to death and still not sorted. Anyway, does anybody know: 1. Does a '94 200Tdi come with any immobiliser as standard? Can't find out anywhere. I know it has some kind of excuse for an alarm (beeping horn) and a...
