So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

Or maybe I've made the mistake of thinking 1.8's after 2000 needed thermo modding at all??

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

Yes and I'm eternally grateful for all the info. Re the checking, I've gone on the opinion on my photo on the first page of this thread. As well as a local mechanic taking a quick look and saying that everything looks standard with no mods. Maybe the thermo mod for post 2000 vehicles onwards...

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

It's a late 2000 and is just on the borderline with the pre2001's so it's a 2001 onwards if that makes sense. It has the clear front indicators. I've had minor issues with parts when people have assumed it's a pre2001 model ie exhaust etc.

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

So, now I'm the proud owner of a PEL500150 but after a brief chat to a LR specialist he assures me that my reg number already shows LR thermo mods have already been done on my vehicle. Mmmm, now I'm confused, it doesnt take a lot! Anyway, I'm thinking this may be a factory mod from new on the...

    That sounds expensive!

    Clutch pedal sticking down?

Thanks, that's what Google said too but I wasn't sure why it was happening just when it was cold.

    Clutch pedal sticking down?

Ok, so from what I can tell the recent cold weather is causing my clutch pedal to stick down on start up and then has to be pulled up from behind. After a few minutes it seems to be ok but if it hasn't been used for a few hours then it happens again so I'm assuming the recent cold spell is...

Ok, much appreciated Freelaner, thanks for that. I know you said I needed the 500150 but then I saw this other one and got confused, easily done!

Sorry to keep annoying you lot but what's the difference between this Pressure Relief Thermostat - 1.8 Petrol - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk and this Pressure Relief Thermostat & Hose - 1.8 Petrol - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk

Thanks for those pics but for the life of me I can't make sense of that hg check pic, spent an hour looking for something similar on my engine!

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

Thanks all yet again. But, on a slightly different subject I'm a bit confused re vin number/parts etc. My vin number starts with 1A58 etc so is this prt Pressure Relief Thermostat & Hose - 1.8 Petrol - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk and this, if I decide to buy the blanking...

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

Excellent thanks again. Actually I've just found that blanking thing on the rimmerbros site so will be ordering both that and the hosey thermo thing from them in the next coupleof days. They seem to be much cheaper than anyone else, I'm assuming that's a good thing!? I'm also wondering...

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

Nice one, ta for that. So to confirm, my shopping list is the rubber hosey thermo thing, a blanking wotsit to replace the original thermostat and a few litres of coolant. Can't seem to find that blanking wotsit on that Rimmerbros site. And should the coolant be a certain type? Thanks again...

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

That's very kind and I would have jumped at the chance had you been closer. And is it worth me sorting a new expansion tank and cap at the same time as the thermo mod? Is it just a new tank or different type?

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

:D I'm thinking £60 for the part and a good couple of expensive hours messing about. Don't forget I'm down south, you pay for quality!

So has mine had a thermostat mod or not?

Well Rimmerbros seems the way to go for the part then to off to persuade a decent mechanic to do the deed, hopefully for not much more than £250 all in. What do you lot think?
