    Dirty diesel td5 discovery

Have you checked if oil has contaminated the wiring harness. Quite a common problem, causes all sorts of faults, especially misfiring and poor engine running, do a search and you'll come up with some info.

How to keep a 200tdi running indefinately?

As you only do short journey's by the sounds of things, definately change your oil more regularly, cheap compared to problems it prevents. If the chassis is reasonable why not give it a good coat of underseal, and if you want inject it with some waxoyl.

Not so much trust, but about being re-assured when we're talking hundreds of pounds here. Anyway as for trust, they're not called Main Stealers for nothing!!

    clunking from clutch

Go with odenne on that. Is it a new thing that's started to happen, or been doing it for a while? You'll be amazed how much smoother everything feels when you learn how to match road and engine speed. I get a clunk when I lift the clutch to quickly.

    clonk from 110 front axle

If I was you I wouldn't worry. Don't start going and worrying about replacement axles etc. The clonk could be many other places in the transmission. As a temporary fix in a sticky situ. just whip off the front prop, and lock the centre diff. But as I said don't worry, a 1983 110 is...

Mine's always made a slight clonk and it's only 7 years old. same in the sense we both have play in the front diff. I'm not gonna worry about it unless it gets worse. Adsey

Plea for help!! 101 engine change

Found the source of the prob. today. Dodgy ballast sensor. Don't know how it was causing the starter to run as it's meant to prevent you overloading hence killing the engine. Hmm. Anyway when we bypassed that we heard nothing but the beautiful rumble of the V8.

Plea for help!! 101 engine change

Thanks for that slob, we took the old starter motor and swapped it with the new one. This still gave the same symptoms making us think that the starter motor isn't the cause of the problem. We tried the whole wait a minute till it stopped starting on ignition thing, and it constantly did...

Plea for help!! 101 engine change

Yeh, we checked that. To rule it out completely and check the wiring at that end, we changed the barrel for a couple of flick switches. Really puzzling us???

Plea for help!! 101 engine change

Hi all, A friend of mine is installing a replacement 3.5V8 into his 101. When you start it up, it sounds fine apart from an electrical whine. On further inspection we have found that the starter motor is running constantly. We then went to switch the engine off and restart it. When I turned...

Rust bleeding over the rear off-side mudflap!

When I painted my rear crossmember, one coat of spray on hammerite covered any signs of rust etc. hasn't budged for six months. If it's not that bad, a bit of hammerite over said damaged areas should protect it. I know you don't want to. I'd hammerite the other bits you said they didn't...
