Hi All
After damaging a piston in my engine I put it all back together and now I have exhaust gases in the coolant (did a block test as the cooling system was pressurised when cold).
I have lifted the heads back off and I have check the liners and they dont seem to have slipped (all at the...
Thanks James. I have measured the bore and it is 94.1mm. This corresponds to the grade A piston according to Rave, however my local landrover stealer says the same part is listed for grade A & B pistons.
Is this correct that there would only be one size of piston? I assume that you cannot get...
Not sure how to do the light guards, but for the nudge bar you need to remove the bumper.
Assuming you have the proper brackets for the nudge you need to remove the bumper (2 bolts on the underside and 2 white clips in the wheel arches) once you have the bumper off, you need to attach the...
Hi All
Having damaged piston number 3 on my V8 due to a piece of metal finding its way through that cylinder. I have now removed the piston and require a new piston.
How do i identify what size of piston I need, will there be a reference number on the piston or do I need to measure the...
I think it is impact damage, I had a rattle on that bank couldn't work out what the rattle was, but I found a small piece of metal bouncing around the inlet maifold, looked like it my have been in a cylinder bore at one point.
Injector looks fine and the valves are not burn or damaged
Whilst trying to identify a misfire on my 4.6. I noticed that the sprak plug on cylinder 3 had been dashed on the top.
This is what I found when I pulled the head off bank 1, I don't think the piston should look like this. The cylinder head has a nice matching look
Do you think I could get...
I phoned them today and they insist they have. Just seems very coincidental that the long term trims have not changed after a reset.
It would not be the first time I have had issues with my local stealer, but there is no-one else with the right kit for 90 miles
Acording to my local stealers, there was a misfire on 2,3,5,8 and I have now replaced the coil pack those cylinders are on.
My concern at the moment is whether then have done the adaptive reset. the data from my OBDII reader implies they have not?
Hi all
I need some advice I had an OBDII reader on my 4.6 range rover as it seemed to be running rich and had a rough idle. This turned out to be the MAF.
My OBDII reader showed the fuel trims as
Short Term - 25 Lean
Long Term + 25 Rich
I booked the rangie in to have the fuel trims...
Hi
Sounds to me like your sat nav is not getting a GPS signal. you should have a round symbol (looks a bit like a globe) in the top left corner of the map when you have a GPS signal. if you you dont have the symbole, then check the unit in the boot, if you have a mk3 unit the gps cable should...
Not had my P38 fail MOT for air springs, but I did have a td5 discovery fail MOT on leaking air springs, so I would assume they are part of the test.
Brake pipes are just awkward to do due to the route they take, and bleeding them is not easy either.
I have cleaned the MAF as it was quite sooty and there does seem to be some improvement, but the engine is still loosing power.
Do I need to get my fuel trims reset as well?
I have also put a OBD code reade on (after cleaning the MAF) and had the following codes:-
P0327 - Knock sensor low...
Thanks Wammers. I have tried going for a run with the MAF sensor unplugged and the engine seemed more hesitant and still exhibited the lack of power.
so I don't think the MAF is the problem
A bit more information on this.
The engine seems to loose power under load, took it up one of the local steep hills and it started to stuggle, the engine continued to loose power until I took my foot off the accelerator. the sam thing happens at about 65, the engine starts to struggle and...
Hi all
I pulled out to overtake a van yesterday as I acceleated my rangie decided it was going to to its usual kickdown and rev to hell before it change up. However this time when the revs reached about 4500 it seemed like the fuel cut off and the reves dropped back to 3500 and it started to...
I checked the cam lobes and measured the distance the talpets moved as cam went round. I also measured each of the push rods. everything seemed within tolerance
