I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Is it safe to drive, or does it look like it could go at any time?? I see there is 2 different belt lengths 1580mm and 1595mm. Just to confuse things lol.

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Not much to report really. I've bought a Disklok as seeing the local Police on facebook kept posting about keeping 4x4 vehicles, especially Land Rovers, as safe as possible. 2nd time lucky, the first Disklok turned up looking like this: Also ended up following my head and bought the Britpart...

    Can the Defender TD5 cope.....

You could get a "No Smoke, No Poke" sticker for the back window like most people with Euro look VWs' do in my area. Hope you get it sorted, but it'll be painful with the standard map back on the car after driving with a remap for a while. :(

I'm pretty much in agreement. Once rust is in, it's not going away. Also read that Ince a few bits have been replaced that it's only a matter of time before the chassis itself shows signs of rusting through. Probably keep it the best I can over winter and when the garage is built I can have it...

Just before my fan activates it allows air into the cab without it being forced by the fan. Fitting a snow cowl stops the air flowing freely into the system. You are right, I should get a snow cowl and then nothing can really get in!

I'm confused, maybe stupid too haha. But thought a coating of dinitrol would help the chassis not rust any further if applied by a professional. We've got loads of oil floating around that could be mixed/sprayed into the chassis. Any suggestions on method of application? Compressor job? I've...

    Defender door hinge difference

Good write up!! I know what you mean about fear of the unknown, I'm petrified of trying to take anything off just in case it's seized solid and won't budge. From what I've read a decent impact driver is a very useful tool to own when you're working on a Defender. I've considered changing my...

What have I let myself into ?

Get some pictures of the ol' girl up, everyone likes pictures ;) . I've had my Defender for 6 months now and the parts are considerably cheaper than I was expecting. Only problem being that you require more of them to keep everything ship shaped in comparison to a normal car. My Defender...

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

When I wasn't stupidly falling off my mountain bike this weekend I've been having a little nose around Defender, checked all fluids but that's a weekly thing anyway. Applied Vaseline around the sunroof seal as it was dripping from the open/close knob the other week. Thought I may as well before...

Bits I've added that really made a difference.

Nicely titled and useful thread :) I've only had my 300 tdi Defender for 5 months and haven't really done a great deal to it apart from change all the fluids, and had it MOT'd this weekend. Over the last few weeks it has really struggled to get up to temperature in the morning when it's below...

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Hello again everyone, just coming back for a quick update on what's been going on in the last month. I could lie and say I've been too busy, but I'm just lazy and have been messing with my bikes and looking at other cars. I removed the two hinge blanks to see what corrosion was about...

Have I got the right windscreen seal?

Are the holes in the body panel over sized? Maybe some rivet burrs required?

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Haha. I do hate the thing, if I hadn't wasted loads on modifying/replacing the engine it, it would be worth about 50% it's original purchase price 6 years ago, used car values seem to be crazy now people just finance everything. They're also quite tunable with just bolt on mods, if you buy used...

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Sorry got too much happening at the moment, missed your post. Not sure on the legalities of it, as the screen isn't actually illegal or dangerous. Plus it would be remove on Friday, refit post corrosion removal/paint on Monday or Tuesday, so not sure how that would work if I was to do it through...

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Helpful again, knowing my luck I'll break the seat pushing out the screen, will get some dinitrol ordered with the 600mm tube just in case it's needed. Have to see about the service, it's got partial service history with it, but plenty of receipts, so I'm not sure if it's worth a garage doing...
