    Freelander 1 Bottom ball joint.

Just got back from road test. Sorted. I removed the arm, pilot drilled to 3.5mm then out to 9.5mm. I chipped the heads off with a chisel as the angle grinder had a new disc on it with a sharp edge - needs wearing in. Anyway, all sorted now.

    Freelander 1 Bottom ball joint.

So being the glutton for punishment that I am, I decided to replace the osf bottom ball joint this afternoon. I thought to myself 'this will be a half hour job, I've done hundreds of these in the past, easy!'. Well the laugh was on me wasn't it.

    Freelander Faults poll

I'm pretty new to Landyzone and to Freelander ownership. I bought my 03' Hippo a month ago and have just had a little tot-up. Please, be seated.... I was pleased to drive my FL away having paid only £1900 of the £2600 asking price. I have since spent a not insignificant £1228.74 on her. Some of...

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

I've just been to see my buddy at his workshop and collect my little landy. It cost me more than doing it on the driveway but sometimes you have to think about the aggro it saves you. I'm still smarting from the cost involved but at least now i know my flywheel is in good shape and i won't have...

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

Firstly, let me thank you for your advise, it is all gratefully received. Secondly, i have a confession to make. When supported by axle stands, the height of the vehicle's underside doesn't allow sufficient clearance to remove the gearbox - the bell housing being to larger diameter. What this...

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

She's done 120k, not much at all really. Just thought I'd get one just in case.

You might be running a single plate clutch rather than the original dmf....

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

It's a TD4.... Awe shucks. I'm going to sit in the corner of a dark room and rock for little while. Updates to follow.

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

Quick question...... My little Freelander is an '03' on an '03'. How do i know if it's a DMF or conventional single flywheel arrangement? There must be a parts fiche or something i can search that'll tell me. Right....? If i wiggle the gearbox out to find I've bought the wrong clutch kit my...

Freelander 1 The dreaded clutch slave cylinder!

I understand this is a pretty common problem. I understand replacing the offending article is a very time consuming job. I understand nobody in their right mind would attempt such a job at their home, on their driveway with limited tools and sensitive neighbours. Tomorrow morning i will begin...

    My Monday

I sanded it back with progressively finer grit paper, gave her 3-4 coats of etch primer then finished the job with some MIPA satin black. I used a bunch of stuff i had left over from other jobs but if you can get it, i'd recommend either MIPA paints or Wurth. The finish is pretty tough so i...

    My Monday

Hi all, So having spent yesterday cleaning my beloved, I spent today replacing intercooler hoses, removing egr valve, replacing boost control solenoid and camshaft position sensor. I also refurbished the spare wheel carrier while I was out there. I consider this a reasonable day :-)

New boots.... Don't roll your eyes!

Thanks for the advice chaps! I'll stick to 225/65s i think. That 'one wheel up thing looks like fun! Might have a go at that this afternoon if i can find a level piece of tarmac. Thanks again. Craig.

New boots.... Don't roll your eyes!

Ah yes, where are my manners!? I'm Craig, I am the proud owner of a bang-tidy, 2002, TD4 flavoured Freelander! She's covered a mere 118k and is booked in for a major service and a few tweaks in a weeks time. She'll be carrying me along byways, highways and the odd gree-lane. When I'm out...

New boots.... Don't roll your eyes!

Evening all! Just picked up my first landy yesterday and she needs new rubber. I'm 99% sold on Pirelli's Scorpion ATR in 225/75-16 but wanted to make sure they wouldn't bugger anything up. What with being a tad wider and more than a tad taller. Your thoughts?
