Yeah - fuel relatively cheap but tax and insurance horrendous compared to UK. One neighbour has 23 year old golf and no-one will insure it not even 3rd party unless you stonk out a massive €1370 and the guy has been driving 40 years claim free.. Another neighbour has 21 year old Starlet and full...

    Irish rovers?

Hi there from West Cork; currently have Freelander TD4 but changing to Series very soon. Always had landies - SIIA; 90's; TD5; changed to Freelander but miss the character of the old bone shakers; especially on West Cork roads.

Yeah; I know what you're saying but for me they are a car and no matter how I try I can't get to love it. They don't rattle; they do let the water in (the boot box) they are quiet and fast; comfortable; sort of reliable but they have to be deep cleaned if you chuck sheep in the back; dog hairs...

    Across the water

Hi lads; thanks for the help. Looking for a series 2/3 in good nick for under £8000. Would get another defender but the tax here is about €2250 plus VRT - about £1750. If I get a 'vintage' (pre 1987) then tax is €56 + €50 VRT. Car tax is just going up 'n' up over here and a lot of companies are...

Hi, It's great so far. Though have decided to change Defender for Freelander sadly. Went up to Kinsale the other day and my sister (had brain haemorrhage 2010) felt sick as a dog with all the bumping about. Never complain about a UK road again ha ha. Word at the Doctors is that most English go...

New tyres; copperslip studs, new indicator bulb holder - rewired in and siliconed. Fitted rubber cover from old mini headlight on reverse to try to stop water ingress - 3rd indicator holder in less than a year. Swore about lack of clearance between rear wiper and sparewheel cover.

    Ratty's Poll - Security devices.

Anyone tried a baby monitor in their landie when parked at home? One of my mates was getting his lid trashed by a cat so he put the baby monitor in - the noise of the cat woke him and he shouted 'get the f--k off my car' - cat fled at great speed never to return. Maybe this would be good...

Sorry for delay - hectic at the minute. Bought mine off internet Mini PIR Alarm with Keypad | BeSafeAlarms.com Was only £9 when I bought it so it's worth googling - you can also get the same make with a remote. Can also be secured with screws

    Ratty's Poll - Security devices.

Got a shed alarm on line £9. Beeps and gives 30 seconds to enter code; depending where it is located depends on how fast a thief can whack it with a hammer. Forgot to reset mine in car park and started up to drive off when it went off - several people came to see what was going on as they sound...
