    Electronic ignition 3.5 v8

You had all the bad ones then,I've been fitting them and using them for 30 years and never had a problem. My brother is currently 1/2 way around Oz in a 67 SIIa 6cyl - on Lumenition. My other brother has a 1933 Austin 12/6 on it,runs like a sewing machine. The only thing they don't like is low...

Battery backed up sounder. The BECM needs to see either the BBUS or the down dollar horn connected for the EKA to work.I think it was probably just a belt and braces attitude towards security.Difficult car to steal - even if you have the key sometimes....

    Electronic ignition 3.5 v8

My advice would be to refit the original Lucas unit and fit Lumenition - the full Optronic kit,not the cheaper version. Its expensive, but totally reliable and way better than points will ever be.Genuine rotor arms, dist caps and leads are also a must too...

failed emmision test 0n 1.8 freelander

K series engines need a good Cat - yours is not. Your emissions readings are pretty much what I would expect pre cat on your engine, its clearly running closed loop,a lit up Cat with a decent matix would clean it up enough to give a good pass.

Yes it is,plus all panels including bonnet closed.

    Oil pressure/HFS switch

No,both customers supplied their own wiring kits from the link I posted earlier. If you look you will see the kits include a timer.LR do not supply retrofit kits now so the customers decided on those kits, both are very happy with them.

    Oil pressure/HFS switch

A heated screen does not need 40 amps - that's close to what 4 glow pugs need... Seeing as you all seem so worried about flattening your batteries with heated front screens, may I suggest you design and fit interlocks to prevent you from engaging the starter motor while the gearbox is engaged...

    desperate need for emmisons help!

Not bizarre, the individual readings are just that and give very good clues where to look for the problem.Thing is a P38 v8 will sail through a cat test is its in half decent shape, even with dirty air filters and high mileage.

Has anyone had a go at converting these codes ?

    Oil pressure/HFS switch

I suppose its down to how much you need your hand held, both of the customers cars I did last winter have just enjoyed the clear screen first thing on a cold morning and been sensible enough to switch them on only when needed...

    Oil pressure/HFS switch

I've done a couple of heated screen installs on TD5 Defenders - there was no engine off protection as you describe. If its for your own car then its not really worth bothering to fit this feature,as you would be aware of the warning lamp in the switch, plus how often would you leave the ignition...

Disco 2 TD5 Smoky - but a nice old bird!

The way to find out is to do a compression test, the rods do seem to bend quite easily if abused. A current clamp and oscilloscope are by far the best and least intrusive way to do the test - I have done loads, mostly for other garages, which has saved me,(And sometimes them) loads of money.Often...

    ABS fault - intermitent

Caught me out for a while,I was doing it for another garage who are known for buying cheap parts to maximise profit.... Found it in the end by scoping one front and one rear at the same time - very obvious that there was a large difference in frequency, the poor SLABS ecu thought it had wheelspin...

    ABS fault - intermitent

A main dealer solution will be very expensive because of the stupidly high parts costs that Tata are forever increasing...Plus main dealers labour rates are usually much higher too. A decent LR independent is probably the best bet as they should be able to offer more choice in terms of decent...

Lambda Sensor Issue - Britpart Mispackaging

I think its probably a case of Island being fed up with warranty claims from people who think that their oxy sensors are faulty when its either poor trimming of the LPG ecu or a dying maf causing very narrow injector pulse width bands. They sell mostly decent products at a very low price,warranty...

    desperate need for emmisons help!

For the Co to be that high and the Lambda that low its clearly not seeing a rich value from the oxygen sensors to narrow down the injector pulse width. There are still two options here, either there are still enough misfire events to keep a lean signal or for whatever reason the oxy sensors...

Lambda Sensor Issue - Britpart Mispackaging

Since 2003 I have seen many, many faults with LR products fitted with cheap/incorrect oxygen sensors - from plenty of sources,Euro car parts are a bit of a favourite... Either buy them from a decent NGK/NTK dealer or get them from a main dealer. The cost saving is nothing compared to the hassle...

Getting LPG not to run lean

With 3 wire sensors - which are probably standard Zirconia ones your gauge is only going to be a basic narrow band.To get the best out of your LPG you need 5 wire UEGO's running a wide band of operation, like these; LM-2 Wideband O2 Digital Air/fuel Ratio Meter (Probably a bit OTT and...
