    I need some Freelander bits

If it helps, old chap, I do have a spare digital clock I could sell on to you - The immumination bulb has gone on it, but I do have one on order. PM me if interested.

    Freelander Upgrades

Really?...you can put tyres up to 235 wide on a standard set up Td4 (with Freedom 16" wheels)...without the need for spacers? That would be superb. Without sounding terribly dull is it known if 215/75/16's would fit - for additional ground clearence (for the avoidance of doubt, yes, I do...

    prop shaft

...Sorry to 'crash' into this thread gentlemen, but I have a related query... I have recently had my VCU etc. replaced and ever since there is a distinct resonance coming from the centre-rear of the drive train above 55-60mph. This weekend I jacked up the Freelander to see if there where any...

    Freelander Spare wheel cover

I've got a spare one in the garage you can have for free if it's of any use - it does carry the details of the garage I bought my Freelander from however. If, perchance, you are near North Hampshire, PM me and we can make the necessary arrangements.

Improved driving from rear diff mount replacement

Ever since the front rear differential mount was replaced on mine there has been a sort of 'shimmy' coming from the back end from 45-55mph approx. - it is very slight, yet noticable to me at least. That said; the other problems have gone away - though I suppose with a replacement rear diff and...

    TD4 registration

..Far be it from me to make any suggestion of any foul play - merely a theory from a non-expert. As to the IRD/Rear Differential - I am very much the wrong person to ask as my 51 ES Td4 has had BOTH replaced.

    New Freelander - first post

Welcome to the fold old chap; pull up a wing-back and settle in. Despite some of the well-known and documented 'things for improvement' the K series Freelander is a good vehicle...provided you look after it. A Happy St. Georges Day to all by the way.

    New Freelander Owner.

Perhaps, old chap, you should re-pose your question in the civilised oasis that is the Freelander section of the forum and avoid the radio static from those only able to shout as to be heard above the drone of their own ego..

    £130 lift kit on Ebay

The prospect of the lift kit sounds very interesting; I for one would like to know how you get on. On a boring note; does anyone have an idea of the impact on insurance for this sort of modification?

why is there no TD4 snorkel

I do believe there is such a beasty as the G4 prepared Freelander has a snorkel and is not exactly a slouch in the off-road department. As has been suggested I suspect that there isn't a large after-sales market out there to make it a readily available item of kit. I'm sure a tad of digging...

    TD4 registration

Out of interest; does it have the light coloured dash with green vents/dials etc. The reason I ask this is that my ES is a 2001 and has the light grey and black dash and I suspect that the interior was changed at the beginning of 2001. ...I do realise that this doesn't actually answer your...

    New Freelander Owner.

Welcome to the Freelander friendly zone. As you can see the welcome mat has been laid out for you. From memory my 1.8XEi was a little angry sounding when provoked but under general use conditions was quite well behaved and quiet. When is the noise most pronounced?

    dead driver's side window

"RAVE2" is the one you need for a Freelander1 - which is 421Mb in size and an easy download. The rear pain is finding a good .iso file reader without falling foul of spam and 'stiffening agent' adverts. One would recommend 7Zip as a good solution to extract the files you need.....Sorry that I...

Why can freelander drive well in snow/ice?

In the recent snow and tricky conditions earlier this year I plodded along in my ex-military Defender (hadn't purchased my FL yet) without much fuss....NOT because of any locked differentials or such nonesence, but because of excellent tyres (BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain), good use of gears and that...

or alternatively anyone out there who has not lifted lifted their freelander and wish

For my ten-pence-worth the only height modification I am considering, by-proxy, is larger circumference tyres for two reasons 1) minimal cost and 2) I'm a bit of a mechanical coward and don't want to mess up something I can't fix....again
  16. The Chap

    dead driver's side window

I understand that it is a prevelant problem for the cables to rot/snap/jam - in all my Freelander has had three done (by the previous owner thank goodness) but changing the switch would be a good, low cost, starter for ten i'd suggest...but then, what do I know

Max possible freelander ride height thread.

An increased ride-height would be very handy indeed, but I fear I would also compress the coils back down again... ...I'm not fat, just harder to kidnap.

    additional fob

I understand that there are two to three fob variations and you do need to buy the same type to have it reprogrammed due to the frequency used by the unit and the in-car reciever. Any good auto-electrician should be able to programme the unit for you, though i'll ba damned if I can find one in...

Incidentally - should anyone wish to buy my Tractor; you'll find her in the For Sale section. Sadly she needs to go due to my being "financially challenged"....which is a travesty really.

    New VCU

The 'thinner' compound used in the one described earlier in the thread makes good theoretical sense - if not used for off-roading - for increased longevity/drive train strain. I do wonder if your drive will benefit though if the majority of the torque is still going through the front wheels?
