    Goodbye 90, hello 110 project

Normal defender seats bolt straight in, as do the series de-luxe versions ;)

Pressure bleeder or Vacuum bleeder ?

I had this problem on a disco and the pedal wouldn't firm up. We filled up the reservoir and put the cap on pretty tight. Rather than a couple of pumps, get someone to pump the pedal hard 25-30 times, then on the last one hold it down and crack the nipple off. It's worth putting a piece of...

    Southdown snorkel fabrication

My Southdown has an OD of 63mm, at a guess the ID would be +/- 60mm.

    Dave rebuild

I know what you mean, prepping mine was soul destroying! It will be worth it in the long run though. Are you using a DA sander or doing it by hand?

Pressure bleeder or Vacuum bleeder ?

+1 for me, I use a jar and clear piece of tube also, but thats because it's easier to see when the bubbles stop.

    Tractors & Ford Pop

How much for the fergy also? Whats the tinwork like on it? Thanks

    Castor corrected arms

If the steering itself is vague, have you checked all of your bushes, steering box, steering column and track rod ends for play? What do you mean by springs twisting?

    Dave rebuild

They were originally fitted to early 90 & 110s that used the antiburst latches on the driver/passenger door. They stopped the seatbelts getting chewed by the door catch. They also prevent you ripping your trousers on the catch when you jump in quickly, but thats another story  Nice...

    H4 bulb upgrade.

You will get even brighter lights if you upgrade the headlight wiring loom and use a couple of relays ;) Theres plenty of info on how to do it, or alternatively ARB sell a plug and play loom.

Is my A frame ball joint gone

Check that it's not play between your halfshafts and drive flanges also ;) A-frame ball joint change isn't too difficult, simply remove large nut on axle, 2 long bolts on A-frame to fulcrum bolts and pull it out. Cut the 2 'wings' with the bolt holes off the ball joint, then place in a vice etc...

How much paint do I buy?

2.5l of nato gave my 90 about 3 coats of paint with a brush. I agree with oldseadog, do it with a roller if possible.

    Extreme 4x4 Detachable Tow Bar

I've got a similar one and am pleased with it, although the drop plate doesn't go low enough if you have a lift/tall tyres and a low trailer. What year is your defender? Tow bars only need to be type approved for newer vehicles, hopefully a grown up on here will know the precise year

    Oil pump for transfer box

I use one of those for the gearbox and it's ideal. It seems to struggle with EP90 for some reason, so I decant into a halfords 1l bottle with a long spout for the transfer box and axles.

    Galv Chassis? towbar fitting

+1 on the galvafroid, it's good stuff but stir it well first as the zinc sinks to the bottom. Plenty of coppergrease too ;)

    richard chassis

Had a few small issues with mine, but I think that was down to the galv process. When I bought mine they had just changed galvanising companies or something. Overall I'm chuffed and would definitely use them again. :D

    Checker plate tub?

Stable matting is good and will provide more warmth for the dogs than chequer would. It's tough stuff so they will struggle to chew it.

    Project 90 - Bustrucket's Bodged Banger

If you use a standard 300tdi intake hose, it will have a hole underneath to attach it through. Route the pipe around the back of the engine, through the P-clips then push the end of the 90 degree bend through the hole in the pipe and jubilee clip it. You should just be able to make out where it...

    brake lines and steering arms

LLama 4x4 do custom lengths of braided brake line. Alternatively a local hydraulics supplier may be able to help. Got my sumo bars from Gwyn Lewis and can't fault them. The greaseable QH ball joints that come with them are good quality.

    90 Steering Guard !?!

I had an alloy one, it bent at the sight of mud and was useless on rocks. Go for a steel one ;) West midlands 4x4 do quite an interesting one, it uses bars instead a plate so doesn't work like a plough when reversing in ruts.
