6 Hobnobs and a cold mug of tea to dunk them in? Any ideas as to how much though? How many miles has it done?

Chevy 454 rebuild with 8v71 blower

Sorry, couldn't resist :D Doc not sure if this is covered elsewhere in your build, is the 454 a larger/heavier block than your previous one or just bored/stroked?

Chevy 454 rebuild with 8v71 blower

Extended brake hoses - where to buy?

I've not used them myself by Llama 4x4 are meant to make very good versions to any length required.

    Gloucester Pay & Play areas

Unfortunately Minety shut down a few years ago, the site owner got fed up with idiots trashing the place. It's a shame because it was a good site. Have you looked at Winters Farm near Halford? It's supposedly run on a private basis but the bloke opens it up for small groups throughout the year.

    New chassis questions

Definitely label as many connections as possible! I made a few changes to my loom during the galv chassis swap: - change all light connections for the later econoseal connections and 300tdi lights - add in a couple of extra lives to the dash for use later on - consider changing the fuse box to...

A frame joint limiting axle twist? Solutions

Are you sure it is the A-frame that is limiting your suspension travel? When I fitted the X-springs, I played about with a couple of jacks and found that the maximum extension on my +5 shocks was the limiting factor rather than the Gwyn Lewis ball joint. With the shocks removed I had another 4...

    doors????????

Series doors every time ;) As the_wolf says, alloy door tops are even better and would still work out cheaper than a decent set of doors with those new-fangled windy windows.

    offto rockingham 8/2/14

I went on one a few weeks ago at Rockingham, dad got it free when he bought his RR Sport and took me as a second driver. It was a really good day actually although in true LR style, the RRS wouldn't start so we played around in a Disco 4 instead. The tracks aren't particularly extreme and...

Some pics of my Disco :D

What about modifying your rear bumper by cutting the top out and welding in a semi-circle so there is clearance for the bottom of your tyre? It would help keep visibility out of the rear window and keep CoG slightly lower. Mr Noisy, thats a great explanation of wet wheel bearings, a job I...

    Which replacement hinges?

What ever you do, don't buy britpart versions. They are so badly made that genuine bolts don't fit into the countersunk holes and the play in them is appalling. Sadly I had already sprayed mine so couldn't send them back

    Defender steering lock stops

You got some stud extractors? You may get away with a 7mm hole. If not the pop to a garage and ask if they have one of those fancy 90 degree air powered drills. That will fit in the space you have available.

    Dave rebuild

Go for series doors. - they are cheaper - less moving parts to go wrong - they are lighter - you can make door cards to mount speakers etc - and you can take the windows off in the summer Nice colour too! ;)

    Defender 110 lhd cummins

Another one here, it's a bloody cool 110 too! He's hoping for 'Anywhere between 500-600Bhp, 900-1200 ft lbs torque @ 70-80 Psi boost and depending on how its setup':eek::cool: I've got a 6bt with a zf gearbox sitting in a mates shed at the moment, just waiting for a 110 Hi-cap to turn...

    Advice on painting

If you don't have a broom to hand, the paint can also applied with a mop or even a dead cat (spear it with a stick to reach the middle of the roof). Masking tape isn't required, cover lights and windows in grease, throw can of paint over vehicle, wait until it's dry and then pressure wash the...

    Advice on painting

A few years ago I did the 90 with matt nato green and a brush, it looked ok from a distance but the body had the texture of a ploughed field. Matt also holds dirt and oil whilst showing up scratches quite badly. During the rebuild I decided to respray it properly which including the prep and...

    Engine upgrade?

A rover v8 would be a simple fit and with megasquirt would allow you to play in puddles also. If you don't mind a bit more work however, I would be tempted by a modern Jap v8. Have you considered the BMW M57 diesel? It's a very tuneable engine and would be good on fuel also. People have already...

TD5 instrument binnacle, Raptor dash and pod

You've done a great job there, I'm tempted to do it to my 90 now! One question, is there a way to recalibrate the odometer so that it matches the current 190k?
