Got a bit more “off road” than planned - now have an engine bay full of muddy water and an air box full of the same!! Might be time for that snorkel :D

:) Well one way or the other one of us is on the right track!! I’ve spent too long under the wheel arches this week looking at the bloody front suspension - the HD shock turrets are a PIG to fit vs the original ones!!

Unless the “new seat” referred to new seats already fitted, in which case I’ll go with your 15mins per side, although I’m sure my turrets have 4 bolts :cool:

Turrets yes, but How are you going to get the seats off?! They’re under the welded housing so you’ll need to compress or drop the spring to remove those…. Unless I’ve missed something :confused:

Probably not, as long as you have spring compressors and drop the axle as far down as possible. My issue was the new springs as they were so much longer!

Fitted the longer springs, turrets, seats and cones - well one side. That was a real pig!! Saving the drivers side for tomorrow :(

Finally got around to fitting the handset of my radio to stop it swinging around or having to loop it over the rear view mirror! must sort that headliner too - after a year of being like that it hasn’t fixed itself so I guess I’ll have to do it :confused:

Attempted to fit new HD shock turrets as a “quick” job but failed as the bolts from the existing retainer ring don’t quite fit - and I need to trim some bodywork back to allow the turret to fit :( That’ll teach me for trying to do half a job. need to fit all at once with the new retainer ring...

a good point and Yes I have all new bolts etc I’ve had the turrets off about a year ago when changing shocks so everything was greased on re-fit so hopefully will be ok

I’ve just had the turrets, dislocation cones bad seats arrive for my D2 - job for the weekend along with the new springs!

In case this helps anyone else in the future…. putting an adjustable spanner around the guide pin (between carrier and end of pin) and hitting it works but ideally use a medium punch to focus the shock as near to the pin flanges as possible. Just hitting the spanner is less productive as the...

Fitted EBC yellowstuff pads and got the tires dirty!

It was pretty well in there - but that’s what bug hammers are for isn’t it?! I have a new set of pins and grease on the way as the seized one, while moving again, isn’t in great shape now.

Just to close this one off. The adjustable spanner and big hammer idea worked and the pin eventually came out! wire wool and a fine file and lots of grease and we’re back in business- EBC yellowstuff pads fitted and stopping wonderfully! thanks for all the help/suggestions

Morning all! trying to find a new pair of front spring seats for the D2 - but can only find 1 or 2 places selling them for £60 EACH!! surely there must be alternatives but I can’t find them, any ideas?!

yes, leaving the carrier on may be an idea. Hoping that getting a spanner behind the flat and of the pin and the a few decent whacks may encourage it to move! Fingers crossed

I nipped out earlier to do a quick brake pad change on the disco and after removing the passenger side calliper I noticed that the lower guide pin was stuck - totally seized! it went through mot with no issues a month ago and they were “ok” about 2years ago when I replaced the discs but now...

I’d wait till you id the leak as you may be taking it all out anyway!! It’ll seem like a bugger of a job - till something more challenging comes up!! good luck
