paddocks sell the repair brackets for this exact situation. whoever says it cant be welded is talking out of his arse mate! Done one myself no problems just make sure the welding is spot on though.

well the bonnet switch is disconnected, the air con loom is all gone and the relays are gone and have tried it with all the fuses out! still drains any battery i put on it. I'm testing it as we speak with the starter disconnected as this is the last thing that could drain it that quickly left...

yep more likely to be both diffs if you were trying to get up over a root. as the spinning wheel hits the ground and stops, the inertia built up will generally mash your diff! probably the starwleels or pins have gone.

i think series 2 was 1958-61 and 2a was 1961-72. may be slightly out though!
