    TD5 Cylinder Head

Update on my head, no not that one the one on my car. I went over on Monday morning and he was there waiting and he just held his hand out for the keys, I said I hadn't brought it over and he said "I will get it when I am ready", great I thought going to finally get my car going. Then, Tuesday...

Welcome. What a very sad way to introduce your self. Really hope you get it back.

    New Landy Owner

Welcome to the Club. My daughter has exactly the same problem but when she turns right. A mech has looked at it and said it is the 'rotor' arm, I haven't a clue what that is but from what I can gather it's the steering linkage from the steering box. There some very good people on here, they...

    TD5 Cylinder Head

Just got to say that we don't have a garage all the work on cars is done in the street, years ago I stripped down and built back again motor bike engines, I have renewed the head gaskets on the old Ford v six, I have swapped Transit gear boxes on my own in the street. I am just too old now to...

    TD5 Cylinder Head

I am taking the disco back to him on Monday (I have had enough of him), if he says bring it back in a few days I am going elsewhere. I bought the head and he has bought all the new bits that are required, I hope he has got the new head bolts, I WILL check. Appreciate your comments.

    TD5 Cylinder Head

Thanks tom1979. I guess I should have quantified my original question. I have been discussing the problem with my local garage who is very familiar with all Land Rovers, owns a very nice Defender and does work on my son's TD5 and my daughter's and son-in-law's Freelanders. He knows of my...

    TD5 Cylinder Head

I purchased a TD5 2 months ago, cheap, but it needs a new head, not being an expert on TD5's the question I would like to ask is this. How long would it take a decent mech to swap a head, and what would be a reasonable cost of doing so?

    TD5 Fuelling Woes

In my case nothing was renewed, my friend just cleaned out the glass water trap filter, when I went back to pick my disco up he showed me the white gunge he had removed. As I have said it never came over the 8 years I had it.

    TD5 Fuelling Woes

Totally agree, I have no idea of previous owners, but from what I saw when it failed my first MOT I wouldn't be surprised if some clown had used silicone on some of the system. I will go with that idea, brill...,

    TD5 Fuelling Woes

We have a local Sainsbury's garage (caught me on the hop, not sure what brand of fuel it is) which is about 4 hundred yards from home. One thing I have just thought of, because I had bought a D1 which I wasn't sure what kind of owners it had before (thinking of the red fuel thing already...

    TD5 Fuelling Woes

Yes, I would say the substance was organic it was similar to sour milk when it goes lumpy. the running symptoms were similar no acceleration, no power and as I was on the road I took it straight to my friends workshop (I didn't want to stop on the narrow road to investigate). He started with...

    TD5 Fuelling Woes

Disco-Skipper happy to hear your trip went well, problem sounds like it has cleared up. But for me I have never stopped thinking what it could have been, the iffy red sounds possible but mine happened 12 months after I had it and that didn't have a sniff of red. So I can rule that out on my...

    TD5 Injector Testing

Hi Guys, Just to let you know my part on this thread is now finished (at least for the time being), bought a recon head and a garage has agreed to fit for me. Many, many thanks for all your help, it has been interesting and I learnt a lot about the TD5.

    TD5 Injector Testing

Thanks tom1979, I think I have the hang of TD5 heads now, not an expert but more knowledgeable than I was before. One observation though, I notice that the top 'O' ring is green, we use to use green 'O' rings when we were servicing BA equipment if it was used on oxygen, as the were O2...
