    Test driving disco tomorrow

Hi all, Never owned a landy before. We've been to look at a couple of Td5 Disco's today, both the same price, same milage, same spec. Both are 51 reg with 60 - 66,000 miles. One metallic red, the other a dark metallic silver. I noticed on the silver one that the button on the dash for raising...

Leaning towards a Disco, went to look at a couple earlier. I think it might be the extra two seats in the back that make the difference. It means we can seperate the rowdy kids on long journeys. Going to test drive tomorrow......still like the range rovers though...and could still be tempted. Stu.

    Buying

So...Will a 4.0 / 4.6 Lpg Rangie be as good as a Td5 Disco for our intended uses. I'll be using it for a daily 20 mile round trip on the motorway, (luckily my shift times miss the rush hour, so it's always a nice easy cruise). We'll only be towing a caravan, (15-1600 Kgs), maybe six or...

AAAAARH!!!!! are you telling me a salesman was telling me porkies. Exactly as I suspected. Like I said though I've never owned one, so I'm a bit wet behind the ears with these. Thanks for the quick reply. Stu.

Went to look at a Range Rover just now, at a place just outside of Bearly, nr Warwick. It was sitting low, so when the sales guy started her up I was stood watching for the suspension to lift fairly quickly, nothing happened. Salesman told me that it had been sat on the forecourt for a while...

Torque rod bushes? If range rovers have such a thing. Had the same thing going on with my old volvo, changed the torque rod bushes, problem solved. Stu.

    4.0 Range Rover Going Porous

Thanks for your replies, looks like this could all be a a bit of a myth. The model I'm looking for is a year 2000ish 4.6 HSE with an lpg conversion. Luckily there's a range rover enthusiast that lives a few doors away who's volounteered his services when I go to look at one. Hopefully I...

    4.0 Range Rover Going Porous

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a range rover and want to know which models to avoid. I have heard that the 4.0 V8 engine blocks go porous and start loosing water at around 100,000 miles. Does this happen to the 4.6 too, and was it only a particular year that suffers from this. Stu.

New to landys and looking for a range rover

Hi all, I'm a newbie here and I dare say I'll be bothering you all endlessly pretty soon. I've driven landy's in the army but have never owned one, although I should do within a couple of weeks, I just don't know which range rover to go for. Or if I should go for a Disco'. I'm going to be...
