    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Yes, exactly, how can I fix a problem that doesn't exist? I was hoping that someone on the forum would come back to me and say, "oh, yes, this is a common problem - all you need to do is replace yer static sprocket flange doobry"... But evidently you all appear to be as bewildered as I am! :)

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Yes, precisely! I agree! He did take it up the road and admitted that it seemed fine... But the computer says "NO"... Now you begin to sense my frustration!!

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Yes, same test centre/same guy. You have to take it to the same place for the re-test.

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Further to my previous post about the original CT test experience. [And having replaced the track rod link arm, 4 new tyres, 4 sets of discs and pads, and adjusted the FOG light (not brake light!) beams..] My P38 (4.0l 2000) went for its CT retest last Friday. It failed. Again. It failed on...

P38A This is what a French CT Test Failure notice look like!

Not sure to whom your remark is aimed... Me? The CT Technician? Or the owner of the other Range Rover? Personally, I'm on a learning curve with P38's - hopefully with the help of this forum and YouTube videos I shall prevail over the various issues with which I am faced :) Unfortunately, my...

Yes, there is - and you are allowed to argue the toss with the test centre that conducted the test.

P38A Failed French CT test: ABS problem apparently!

I've seen the slider pins and boot kits on the Paddocks website - I presume it's one kit per caliper? https://www.paddockspares.com/stc1920-guide-pin.html

P38A This is what a French CT Test Failure notice look like!

Yes, thanks; initially I hadn't realised that this was all it was! At the time, he gestured in the general direction of the ABS Accumulator, pump and the adjacent ABS "block" - muttering "trois mille euros" to fix... He said he had failed another Range Rover a few weeks previously on the same...

I thought some might be interested to see what a French CT failure certificate looks like, in this case for my P38 4.0 V8 2000/X Autobiography... It's a sort of "Good Luck" card written by someone who doesn't wish you good luck! It has a certain Gallic vagueness about it...

Thanks, will do :) Recent hot, hot weather helped to dry the car out - plus a towel wedged under the driver's floor carpet!! (Thought I saw fish swimming under there!) Boot button still works. More on the door latch issue The "original" door latch was giving rise to spurious random central...

Unfortunately, the bad rust on the disc(s) is deep-seated and shows no sign of rubbing off with use. Sadly, it was stood for best part of year (due to me being preoccupied with a cancer diagnosis and ensuing treatment..), which it didn't take kindly to - a whole host of electrical problems...

Thanks for that. Yeah, the guy would have driven it all of 10m to get it in the workshop, so the ABS light would not have gone out! I've discovered that my brake problem is most likely down to some serious corrosion of the front discs - a section - approx one third of the disc surface - has...

Thanks. I'm assuming it was an all wheel rolling road - otherwise he'd have driven the car through the wall! The light definitely goes off when driving off - and does not illuminate at any other time.

P38A Failed French CT test: ABS problem apparently!

Hi My 4.0 V8 petrol P38 (X-2000) has failed its first French CT test on a number of points. The most concerning (to me) is a "suggested" problem with the ABS - according to the technician. The ABS fault light does not illuminate (except for the normal display during the initial turning...
