    Cylinder Head Rust?

But, I can't see why a leak from there would result in overheating (unless it's so severe that it runs very low on coolant, very fast)

    Cylinder Head Rust?

When I replaced the cylinder head in mine, the new head came with that small pipe unattached. IIRC the mechanic who did the job used Araldite or a similar heat resistant glue on it, as Datatek suggested above.

    Crank Speed Sensor

Are you using v5 or v6? One of the upgrades on V6 was that it started showing separate outputs for the CPS and needle injector. On V5 I never knew which sensor was used for the "engine speed" output..

    avarage L/100km?

My average, from 800 kms at around 130km/h on the freeway is 12.0 lt/100km with 16" General Grabbers AT2. My best tank ever gave me 10.5lt/100km and was a mix of freeway and flat country roads.

    Crank Speed Sensor

Hawkeye only shows you what is stored in the ECM. Try clearing the fault and see if it comes back. The Nanocom also displays if the fault is intermittent or permanent. For the time I had a Hawkeye I never had any ECM faults so I'm not sure if the Hawkeye also shows this?

    EAS The Battle Continues

I have a rear right sensor that is bad and I know this by watching it in live output. With the Rangie in level ground, not moving, I see some small sensor fluctuations (+2,-2) that shouldn't be there. You could try this on yours.

    Current draw

0.8 is the same as my DSE. When the BECM goes to sleep my current draw goes down to 0.03A.

DSE - Pilot injector reading while coasting

I thought so but was reading another forum where it was stated otherwise and became curious about it. Cheers Datatek :)

DSE - Pilot injector reading while coasting

Quick question, On a diesel P38, while coasting downhill (foot off the pedal), should the number 4 injector read 0 (zero) or should it read the same as CPS ? Injected fuel quantity is 0 (zero).

Nanocom - EKA and Fob codes

So, if the EKA option is disabled with a nanocom and you get the keycode lockout message, how is it fixed? Also, won't disabling the immobiliser prevent the keycode error from popping up?

    Bosch EDC 1.3.1

Hi. Does anyone know of a technical document describing the inner workings of the Bosch EDC 1.3.1 system used in the diesel P38s ? I'm curious about the different strategies used in function of the various inputs. I had a problem with a broken wire that was signaling the ECM as if the...

    Clutch signal problems

Success!!! After two hours, sore fingertips and bruised knuckles, my cruise control is working again! I removed both connectors from the ECM and BECM and checked pins 20 and 26 for continuity. As I was expecting, there was none. So I traced the wiring to a plug that is connected to a black box...

    Clutch signal problems

Yup, it's activated on the BECM. Checking with the Nanocom also reads that everything else is OK: main button works as expected and both buttons on the steering wheel also read OK. The brake pedal switches are also behaving correctly. The only thing that seems off is the ECM not reporting a...

    Clutch signal problems

For sometime now I've been trying to solve the problem with the Cruise Control not engaging in my DSE. This problem was intermittent, then got solved when I refurbed the alternator and then it presented itself again, with the CC never working since then. Being intermittent lead me to believe...

    P38 Off-Road Equipment

Before thinking about fitting a snorkel, there's a problem with the plastic fan that breaks once in contact with water (usually taking the rad out in the process). I've seen this happen to 2 P38s: as soon as the water gets high enough the water will hit the fan and this will break it. This...

    T/C or not T/C

Then you're bound to have problems as the ECUs are different and fitting an earlier modulator to an older ECU will give braking problems. Also, fitting the earlier modulator instead of the older one requires a botch job as the plugs are different. Try searching around on the landmania forum...

    T/C or not T/C

XA410482 should have 4 wheel TC. From the VIN I posted, until the end of the P38s, all of them came with 4 wheel TC. Before that VIN, 2 wheel TC was standard fit to all HSEs and optional in the SEs and DSEs.

    T/C or not T/C

4 wheel traction control started on VIN XA410482. If the P38 is before that, at best, it will have 2 wheel TC. If the TC light on the dashboard doesn't light up, it either has a blown bulb or no TC :)
