UPDATE! I have just had a new clutch and release bearing fitted and now no grinding noises!! I didn't expect that but assume it must be related in some way. Plenty of other suspicious noises to go!
UJs still going strong.
Thanks.
Hello all.
I am trying to put some lowered front shock turrets on the disco 1 and to do it I want to just remove the current turret by releasing it from the top of the shock and undoing the four nuts to the chassis. But can I budge the nut on top of the shocks.. can I bollocks! The problem...
Its fooked... :D
If there is fuel to the injectors and it is turning over strongly.. it should start! Whats the compression like?
Could check that the glow plugs are getting hot but tdi tends to start with none anyway. Is the air filter free of guff?
If anyone is still reading this. The latest theory is that it is slight play in the shaft coming from gearbox to clutch. Luckily, it seems to go away after a 10mile drive or so. Strange! :alien:
Thanks! :) It's a Mk1 200tdi by the way.
Sounds like I'm right in taking it back. Oddly. Twice when I've gone more than the usual few miles to work (lazy git) the problem went away. Only to return the same day.
Bloomin' odd!
Well, my clutch bearing died before christmas so decided that I would get a garage to replace it and put in a new clutch while they were at it. Stay frosty and get someone else to do it? :)
The problem is that the next day i noticed that there was a tapping / knocking sound coming from the...
New rear brake pads, polybush rear shocks.
Tried to replace the shock turrets with lower HD ones but couldn't undo the sodding nuts on top of the shocks. Was using an adjustable to no avail. Went to Halfrauds for 19mm ring spanner (who knows where my old one is). Saw the price tag and turned...
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good Landy friendly MOT station in Bournemouth? Heard of AL Services and Range Motors / Fernside, the later not so good reports.. Why the name change?
Anyhow, MOT time looming so any help would be good!! :)
Hi and welcome to the forum! :welcome2:
I once had a similarly frustrating problem after replacing my pads and brake shoes (disks front and drum rear) and was going through similar problem suspecting various items to be faulty. But... after asking my dad it turned out to be a simple as...
It's the whole prong that sticks out of the end of the main body. If you know what I mean by that. Can it really drop into the combustion chamber?!! :(
I have but not sure I would use them again or rather these particular ones. They were from Paddocks which are usually good but these units just did not fit properly at all. (Fouled by body to chassis mounts) Anyone found this as well?
It took a hammer and lots of bodging to get the buggers...
Hi, I was replacing my heater plugs today. 3 out of 4 were fine but one has the 'element' broken off and so that bit is still stuck in the head. Has anyone got any clever ideas as to get the blooming thing out? Assuming/hoping the broken bit can't make its way into the combustion chamber...
