....and yes, the fuel pressure regulator will prevent the engine from starting... There is a little O ring in the regulator that can wear or split meaning that fuel rail pressure will not get above the figure required to allow the engine to start.

If on LPG make sure you have a valve lube system in place akin to the flash lube system to prevent valve seat regression.

Beware that the cheaper timing kits can be slopply made....tolerances are key to the timing on the M62, also check how the VANOS Cam Plate Locating Pegs are made, some are loose.

Looks to be for the Secondary Air Injection system.....which appears to be missing on your engine....there should be an aluminium pipe that runs from one bank to the next across the front of the water pump and has a vacuum operated valve on it, operated by a solenoid on top of the intake...
