    Search light

I fancy one of those A pillar mounted spot/search lights that you used to see. Updated to LED of course but I can't find anything like it on the net. Plenty of LED roof mounted lights but you can't move those without moving the whole vehicle. Am i showing my age or is there a legal or some...

    Wow!!!

Landyfox, I had same problem with rear wiper motor burnt out. Rubs inside of spare wheel, 265/75/16 with alloys. Used one old steel nut with about 40mm diameter washer backed up to wheel for larger bearing area. Gives 5mm+ clearance.

Moto Lita steering wheel boss thread length

I fitted MotoLita wheel to mine earlier this year, seem to remember I had similar worry initially but after tightening nut down (not excessive torque) it eventually settled as splines seated into each other. Ended up with about one thread protruding above the nut so I declared all ok. You could...

What are you buying for Defender this Christmas

Mine got new Alpine Bluetooth radio and Vibe speakers all from Halfords. Alpine stuff cheaper at Halfords than Alpine website, how come? Good deal for customers.

Soundproofing, insulation and do I need a headliner?

Soundproofing, insulation and do I need a headliner?

Bought my 2000MY Defender 90 TD5 last November and diesel noise inside was terrible. Defender Diesel Interior noise comes from two major sources; Airborne into cab and Structure borne into cab. Airborne: First thing I found was the centre panel under the storage box was a loose/poor fit to...

    Rear wiper motor

Been trying to upload the wiring diagrams from Haynes but Paul beat me. Haynes has diagrams 86-91 & 91-96 both show same rear wiper wiring, then it jumps to 2002 which Paul has added. Ps I can only add one picture to a post, how do you add more than one? If I select more and upload it deletes...

    Rear wiper motor

Does this help, from Haynes manual.

    Name that noise

Seems related to sideways thrust if it changes when turning. Turning left means right wheel pushed inboard and left outboard. And vice versa. When you say no change when braking assume noise still there, so could be brake pads worn/no lining/trapped stone? Depends how loud/noisy noise is...

    Which Dampers required

Good point Brown. My Landy looks similar to Jonnyb1990 which I assume is standard, I should fit new springs with dampers I guess anyway. Thanks all.

    Which Dampers required

Is this a stupid question? :oI want to replace my Defender 90 suspension dampers but how do I know if the vehicle (X reg) I bought a year ago has standard or +2ins lift? I assume if its very high its been lifted but +2ins would that be noticeable. Can I measure ride height or spring...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Not actually today but over last few days...... Bought a Mud bulkhead bar at LRO show and fitted that last Saturday, big improvement to comfort. Also bought a steering shield and fitted that yesterday. Happy now, for a while!

    Tyres fouling radius arms

Thanks guys. Plus gas needed as you suggested, freed lock nut and only needed half turn to give 30+\- clearance to rad arm with asst (wives ARE useful) leaning lightly on full lock. Job done. Cheers.

    Tyres fouling radius arms

Thanks Kharnsflair, I'm happy they gave MOT cert anyway, they would have charged to adjust and it is a simple job. So no problem now.

    Tyres fouling radius arms

Ah! The MOT garage said there are no locks tops to adjust!!! This is my first Defender bought in Nov last, so getting used to it slowly. I'll get to it straight away! Thanks

    Tyres fouling radius arms

Had my Defender MOT'd yesterday and although it passed :) I was told my recently new 265 x 16 Cooper STT tyres were a technical failure as they foul the radius arm (LHS only). Really chunky tread down the sidewalks do it. Defenders have no backlock adjustment so either wheel spacers or kinked...

What have you done to your Landie today.

What have I done today? Had major success with solving misfire/surging under load!! You guys probably already done this but bought my 90 in Nov last year and after reading various notes about problem I looked at the injector cable conn for any oil in plug, none. Decided to look at the turbo...

    New Member Intro

Hi, joined the Land Rover brigade with a 2000MY Td5 Defender bought in November. Drove it back from Bristol to Essex without issues but then found rear brake callipers seized so only front brakes working. Still the M4/M25 didn't use brakes much and pre drive can't do handbrake check on rear...
