    No power

Hi Chaps. I'm sure the temp sensor is ok as I had issues with it earlier (see "And the black smoke?") And all it is is a thermistor which rarely go wrong, more likely to be connectors as was my problem. Hoses are all ok, so thinking I might have to bite the bullet and buy a new sensor...

    No power

Well pump seems to be running ok and fillter is less than a year from new. I'll have a closer look at them though. Cheers.

    No power

Hi chaps. Ok, still having problems with my poxy td4, getting well ****ed off now. Starts fine, set off to work and driving steadily seems ok, but as soon as I get to a steep hill and have to put my foot down a bit it starts to lose power and the yellow engine light comes on. After this it stays...

    is this my smoking problem

What colour is the bad smoke? I had a similar problem with Black smoke, and lots of it. It turned out to be the air temperature sensor on the short hose right at the front of the engine on the air intake. Take off the plug, spray with switch and contact cleaner, then VERY CAREFULLY close the gap...

    Bugger!!!!

Update. So, got a quote for a new plenum chamber AKA inlet manifild......£340.00! Then tried to find a replacement glow plug cap, only to be told "it's part of a wiring loom assembly and can't be bought seperately" New loom £210.00 :eek: After picking miself up off the floor I...

    Bugger!!!!

Thanks for the offer mate. Anythings possible with it at the mo, although if the relay had stuck, I would have thought all plugs would be affected, as it is, it's just the one.

    Bugger!!!!

Naa, Skipton, the gateway to the dales. :)

    Bugger!!!!

OK chaps, uploaded photo's to my website as below, for your entertainment. ;) Thanks for the thought Matt, I'm sure I'll get it sorted.

    Bugger!!!!

Hi Chaps. Not got it sorted yet as I can't get to Jake Wrights till tomorrow for hopefully a second hand manifold and a new plug top. I'm in Skipton. I've got some pictures if I can get them uploaded somehow. Cheers.

    Bugger!!!!

So, I was taking my daughter and son in law to their restaurant for a meal, when the engine cut out completely. As I free wheeled to a halt in a farm driveway, I could see smoke coming from under the bonnet. We all jumped out, and I lifted it up, only to find acrid smoke coming from under...

    loud banging underneath freelander

Could be the viscous coupling bearing mountings. Does it do it when turning tight corners? I had this banging, and it felt like it was, as you state right under the drivers seat. The bearings are held in thick rubber mounts, but do perish and go soft, allowing the action of the prop shaft 'wind...

    air filter

Just chuck the old one away and put new one in just as it comes out of the box. For the few quid it costs, it's not worth the trouble of trying to clean it and risking bad aspiration for your engine. :fish:

    TD4 Smoke Problem

Could be weepy injectors, they cause blue smoke if they're not atomising properly.

    And the black smoke?

I think pretty much all has been said as regards gstuarts questions, except maybe the contact cleaner one. The one I used is Darathene spray, switch and contact cleaner, but it's one I've had kicking around for 20 years or more, might not even be in business anymore. I'm sure though you will...

    And the black smoke?

Well Hiya folks. I've been ****ed off for a couple of days, but now I'm happy again. My TD4's been smoking a bit for a while now, not badly but grey noticeable smoke. I had a longish trip coming up for a wedding, (around 240 miles away) so I thought it was probably time to change the oil, oil...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Just changed the air filter, glad I have a long series allen key for the back two bolts. :)
  18. Andrew McIntyre

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

I wouldn't buy another FL1 TD4. Not that it has actually let me down, but there always seems to be another rattle, knock buzz or squeak which is a pig to find. I have had mine about 3 years now, but always feel that at some point it's going to crap out big time. I'd risk an FL2 TD4 though, maybe...

Cheers Lads, and thanks. I just beat you to it Singvogel, as I found that site and downloaded the manual yesterday. Just the job. Cheers.

    Satnav lost north

As a matter of interest, does anyone know where I can download an operators manual in PDF form for the said radio sat nav? Cheers.
