i'll try both ways but will continue with advance first then the other way if that does not work...;)

no little cover on my pump as it's a series three later one..:)

whitish smoke but have not got much more adjustment left..:(

right have advanced it slightly and it made a small difference to the smoke but it started to do a strange thing, every so often it runs a litle quicker and then returns to a roughish idle and every so often it also sort of coughs and puffs out some smoke..:(

as a temp fix get a die and stocks or even a die nut and re thread to a slightly smaller size and use a washer... it wont be as strong but will get you by:rolleyes:

ok thanks guys but looking at the views here its still a 50/50 bet as one says advance and one says retard :doh::doh::doh:

which way do you turn the distro pump to advance or retard it to try and stop it smoking??

check for leaks at all the banjos where copper washers are used and renew if needed, also check the pipe on the bottom of the distro pump as there is a one way valve that once disturbed leaks like a bugger...:doh:

the union at the bottom of the pump is a one way valve(sort of high pressure leak off back to the lift pump), if it is leaking from there then it will be draining the fuel from the distro pump and also possibly sucking in air to the system. had the same problem myself went through the whole...

finally got round to playing again... replaced the washers on the non return valve on the base of the distro pump and also swapped the dodgy injector over.. bled it through and tried it and she started and ran, a little rough and smokey but hoping that alittle adjustment on the timing may help...

sorry to upset but are you sure they are 3/8 as most twin leading shoe set ups are metric 10mm.. it will fit one way (sort of ) but not the other:doh:

not being silly but you havnt put 11 inch drums where 10 inch should go have you??
