grow up! all i said was the cooler goes in the return line and petrol will damage your injection system, and to have controlled cooling you need control systems such as a thermostatic valve and monitoring systems.... where as i think you will be working on guesswork and what is a...

CRACKED HEAD Engine runaway - VOSA investigation

its actually quite a common problem on lots of turbo diesel engines, its normaly the turbo seals that cause it though, they leak and the engine starts running on its own oil and will run up til it goes pop or you manage to stall it i have seen loads of cars do it the trick is to stall it...

right forgetting all the veg oil bollocks for a second i don't really car one way or the other (apart from the obvious trying to tell you not to use petrol and that a cooler goes in the return) have you ever had dealings with insurance companies? in fact forget it.... just two words Nigel...

    exhaust y pipe

why would i want to do that? it doesn't really matter which exhaust that is fitted to the engine any performance or efficiency improvement will be extremely marginal, i was giving options for real power and efficiency gains(ls1 would bring approx the same fuel efficiency due to better design........

    Cooking oil in TD5

i don't think you will be able to fit a metal fuel tank, they were type approved and fitting a non type approved fuel tank would void your insurance the fuel cooler should be in the return so removing it over heat your fuel tank and wouldn't benefit you at start up when its needed as SVO...

nope i just feel the rover v8 is a bag of ****e compared to what you could get....... the most your reasonably going to get out of a rover V8 without supercharging it or going for a TVR derived one is 300hp and that will cost you serious money!!! for half what it would cost to get a rover V8 to...

    Cooking oil in TD5

ffs! the fuel heater heats the svo on its way to the injectors it improves cold running the fuel cooler is needed so you don't over heat your plastic fuel tank i didn't mean use MAKRO's fookin oil supplier their are loads of companies that deal in veg oil, do a search on google and you will...

    Cooking oil in TD5

i will make some enquiries with my oil suppliers ;) on the subject of thinning with petrol while this was accepted practice back in the days of the 2.25D when using heavy oils/cold climates it is NOT suitable in modern diesels not only due to the much higher temps involved but also due to...

    loctite ?

would be interesting to have it happen at 70mph on the motorway......you only need a blob not coat it in it......(it also acts as a thread sealant and inhibits rust)
  19. G-man

    loctite ?

its good practice to do it, some people don't and don't have any problems but....is it worth the risk?

the rover V8 is so flawed anyway i wouldn't worry about it
