Brought a new tow rope for me 11A yesterday and today it conked out, seems to be the fuel pump, if you keep primming the lever it starts and runs ok, if you let it stand I think petrol is leaking out the pump emptying the bowl.

Yes same noise, sounds like a steam train when you are going up hill, the Engine runs sweet if you knock it out of gear. Come to think of it it’s worse in 4th gear

My gearbox is making more noise than the engine, in fact I can hardly hear the engine these days, that said it still works fine, is there a common part in the box that fails with time or is it a case of box out and replaced with recon one, never done this job before and not sure I can. My stop start seems to work all the time, the first thing I do is switch it of every time I get in, I hate this feature on any car.

My 15 plate Discovery is due a cam belt change, it’s not done the mileage , 44000 on the clock , but is 8 years old , is there more than one belt that needs doing at this stage, is it a body off job, and what would you pay for an independent Land Rover garage to do the job. Thanks.

I put an optimate charger on mine if it’s not been used a lot or short runs , the battery can have more taken out than goes back in, obviously if the battery is old it may be time for a new one.

Can I bolt my optimate charge lead direct to my Discovery 4 battery, there seems to be a lot going on there with other stuff connected, I only want to trickle charge the battery now and again not put electric to anything else. Thanks.

I used to own an Isuzu DMax, that had a gauge on it you could access and it would tell you how full the DPF was getting and when it was re generation, that would re gen around 150 miles and because you could see it was doing it you would make lots of re gen runs just to keep it clear, many times...

The real problem here is we don’t go out and have a hissy fit like the un washed youngsters glueing themselves to the road, personally I would not want to go to Khans world anyway but I can see it’s a real bitch if you live in his expanding area.

Landrover get a bad name for reliability issues but the truth is most manufacturers have there problems these days, and the worst is yet to come with the Electric cars that’s being forced upon us.

It’s a 15 plate, I would not go into Khans territory if you paid me, for some reason I thought the Discovery Engine was not subject to the crank issues. Just looked it was registered 1st March 2015, so hopefully it won’t have add blue .
