    V8 in to a series

Why go big block, you can get almost as much power from a small block without the weight penalties? Unless you're drag racing and are looking for mega BHP I can't see any advantages. Having said that a mate has a 55 Chevy with a 672ci big block with triple stage nitrous, Art Car transmission...

Good luck, cheaper to buy a V8.

Reliability is the key, viscous fan is the way to go if it fits, I would have left my fixed fan on mine but it didn't fit, so had to go electric. I'll spend what I need to on a rad, don't want any overheating issues. Series will take a pretty large rad so I'll go for the biggest I can fit in.

Hi Kev, long time no see. I don't think power is going to be an issue no matter which I go for, carbs are probably the way to go and they sound better too. Andy prefers carbs, I'm in his very capable hands so I'm happy with whatever he says. Induction noise is how to make a V8 sound like a V8...

So you recon the original 3.5L on carbs is a better bet too then?
  6. Spyderman

    Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Fine by me, I read that the original casting moulds were getting worn 20 years ago causing the problems you mention. Reliability is the key, 3.5 is more than plenty.

Having no experience of either, I'm happy to go along with what's right, if it's Mega Jot instead and it does the job that's fine.

Keep the Series box for sure, changing the box seriously ####s up the interior as they're all longer than a Series gearbox so all of the levers are too far back towards the seatbox, plus I like the levers. Don't want to go permanent 4WD, back end on mine is pretty tough, Original tough Detroit...

No chassis this time, just the engine.

    Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Nope, mine isn't a SW, it's classed as light truck, because it has a diesel engine it's included, if it had petrol it's a car. How stupid is that. same car different fuel. Going V8 petrol will make it a car so exempt from LEZ charges.

    Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Just had a thought, when I go V8 petrol, I'll be allowed in the LEZ where now I'm banned, my office and Mum are inside the LEZ so gives me an option to visit if I need too without paying £100.:D

Spitfire prefers carbs, I think I do really as they sound better, but if a decent 3.9 EFI comes up that's OK too. I'm going to hook it up to my Southdown snorkel somehow as well as the Megasquirt. I've been looking at videos on Youtube of V8's in Series, they go like **** off of a teflon...

No idea, I'm leaving it to SpitfireUK, he's doing it all for me.

That would be good, thanks. Mine is going to be out for months so I'll be going stir crazy, plus I've got a very flash new camera to play with. Easy for me to either come with you or I can meet you there in the car.

I've looked at those at Billing, I think they'd work OK, nice and compact too.

Brakes are fine, as long as they're looked ager there's nothing wrong with Series brakes, especially as mine has the twin 11" drums on the front. I'm going for power steering, because it's relatively easy and it'll stop the steering kicks off road and make it a lot easier at very low speeds.

Looks OK ish, I wouldn't buy it though as it's a fixes head version, my blade detaches so much easier to store inside, plus it's lacking a ring at the blade end to get the thing out of the ground if it gets stuck. Cheap though, depends on how much you think you might need it, places like...

Fleabay, but it's a Devon 4x4 one. probably the best one out there, but it's big and pretty heavy, never let you down, super tough. http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=152&category_id=67&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=14 X-Eng make a good...

I'm going with Megasquirt ignition , so as waterproof as it gets, does away with the distributor. I tend to avoid water now anyway, it kills diffs, alternators, starter motors, fans. Just costs money every time.

Yarwell is a good site, but it's a slap up to the other side of Peterborough. You're lucky you can go anywhere, I'm just sitting looking at mine broken, but it will return in a magnificent state with a V8:D
