    dont ask how i know but them bumpers is hard to straighten by hand..... you might find it easier to tie the outer end to summit solid and reverse gently.... tis easier if youve got someone to tell you to stop when it looks straight..... but tis relitavly easy to bend it back again if you over...

    the alternator rating is its charge rate.... the battery rating is its discharge rate..... rule of thumb, fit the highest rate battery that will fit in the space.

    id run it back to the battery with an inline fuse holder at battery end. then the cig lighter is live all the time.... you can then leave a solar charger plugged in to tickle the battery if its ever stood for a while.

    if yer getting fuel at the injectors whilst cranking surely it should start whatever the immobiliser is or isnt doing . sounds to me like it broke the cambelt , has been done but theyve got the timing wrong?

    just another thought .... in my limited vexperience it aint been the welding thats the problem ,,, the stream of sparks from a 9 inch angle grinder will set fire to straw bales and set off the hydrogen from a charging battery, ive seen the results of both and it wernt pretty.
