I've enjoyed swopping **** with you Freelaner and Nodge, JM, MHM, Will, DD and others but frankly have had it with Freelanders and the FL forum. All the best chaps, I'm going back to German motors!!:):)

What a confusing thread.... If I was the OP would run a mile. Haldex gen 3 as fitted to Freelander 2 leaves a VCU in the stone age. Why are you guys talking about VCU when this chap is buying FL2 Gees!

As an experienced mechanic Jonaf, you surely realise that this transmission related noise is coming from one or all of the much discussed failure points. I would always check wheel bearings but sure you already have. This forum has become about people coming on and expecting rifle shot answers...

Heater box is a string and balsa wood affair - mine just about puts air on screen. They had better demisting in the stone age.

Hey if it works for you, that's cool. I agree it is a comfortable enuf car for most journeys and certainly more forgiving over potholes than a scooby or such. Did you do track days - this I fancy?

Me too, but with gearstick and clutch and lots of unpleasant vibration, although overtaking in a Freelander is a rare thing. I had a Volvo estate back in the day - my first and last auto. That had a button you pressed so it held gears for longer, not sure it was called "Sport Mode" though:D
