So this is looking like a goer.

I am happy to provide space for parking and marquee+ toilet etc.

No charge for attendance. I have a mate who is looking to produce some LZ merchandise (with a Freelander photo, not a Defender !). Several great minds are working on the logo.

Refreshments will be provided at cost. Evening refreshments and camping if enough interest at a venue 1/2 mile away.

But need input please to make it how you want it to be:

1. What would you like to do? Ideas so far are: tech support, chat, beer, spares sales (from your boot), T4 programming, Fob programming.

2. What merch (if any) would you like? There is a possibility of: tin mugs for the workshop brew, Tee shirts, bottle openers, Beenie hats. Also there may be a 'send a photo of your Freelander and have it put on your personalised merch' option if anyone wants it.

3. What times suit people? I was thinking 10 till 4 then evening activity. Is one day enough as a trial which we can then repeat if wanted? Can people stay in the evening?

4. Obvs I have a huge range of spares and may have a rusted vehicle F1 that could be dismantled for parts. A PM to me for anything specific would enable it to be ready.

5. Engines and other parts will be available to discuss and demonstrate methods of repair and how they work / fit.

6. Any other suggestions please.

Also a name....

Free Fest has been floated.
Will also need numbers with a reasonable commitment before I set up.

Over to you all !!

Look forward to meeting up.

A 😀

I’m in for sure - now marked on ‘the calendar’.
I might try and twist my daughters arm for her to bring my old F1 down too, but don’t bank on it 🙄

Whatever merch is available, I’d be interested. T-shirts and sweatshirts are always a winner, and a hat or two will always be useful. LZ (with the correct landie) is fav for me. Happy to pre-order if it helps?

I can stay overnight if we’re going to do an evening ‘thing’, but also happy to drive home again, so will go with the flow on that.
I’ll prolly get down for late morning. I think 1 day and possibly evening is enough, it’ll be very number-dependant. Maybe you could put a post on the thread and edit/update with names as they confirm?

I have SDD if of use for anyone… let me know and I can bring that.
(I have PScan too, but with Phillip coming…😂)

You can count me and my half as coming! We'll try to get the Freelandy up and running in time, but we may need to tow it too!!

Even popped it in the calendar so I don't forget!

are people coming on Friday night, camping, coming to the meet and then going home?
or, arrive Saturday morning, camping and going home Sunday?

I read it as arrive Saturday, camp that evening and leave Sunday morning.
That would also allow for a beer or two.

Only 5 weeks away.
Having a meeting this week to agree and order some FL goodies. More / different can be obtained after the event if they are a success !

This event is open to all Freelander owners (others might find it dull).

I have a list of those who have already said that they are coming.

PLEASE would anyone else (not mentioned in the above thread) who would like to come please send me a PM and confirm overnight Saturday camping or not?

That way I can send you the location and give the numbers to neighbours who are kindly offering camping facilities (not the tent!)

This will be a very informal event but this small amount of planning and confirmation of numbers is essential to the smooth running.

Thanks - put it in your diary.

The planning continues:

The day will be 10am until 7pm obviously going on longer for anyone who wishes to camp overnight.

Arrival anytime from 10am at the Farm. Precise location will be sent to those that PM me.

There will be PScan demonstrations, T4 knowledge accessible, spare parts and accessories for sale, technical chat and demonstrations if required. Also, the ability to access a wealth of knowledge via the attendees.

There will be all day drinks available.
Cornish Pasties (hot) will be provided around 12 to 1pm.

Out nearby printing firm will have supplied:
Tin mugs, bottle openers, Tee shirts and aluminium signs all adorned with Freelander photos and logos. Attendees will have a chance to obtain a 'Limited Edition' tin mug with the Farm named. These will, of course, become both both valuable and collectable !

Recognising that many will be travelling a distance in the evening, there will be further refreshments, bacon rolls and beers / 0% beers from 5pm to send you all on a safe journey.

The evening refreshments will be served about 1/2 mile away at our friends property where Air BNB and camping is available by prior request. Basic facilities (cold showers) are available !

So, if you haven't already done so, please PM me with your attendance numbers and whether you wish to camp (you need to bring all equipment) or not.

I will then send you directions.

Looking forward to meeting as many of you that can make it 😀

If it is considered successful, then maybe an annual event going forward.

Also,

As is probably known, I have a wide range of Freelander 1 spares and accessories. If you are coming and wish to purchase parts then please let me know oif there are specifics that you require and these can then be removed, tested etc. Thanks

I think I'm going to go for the camping option. Apparently my daughter has a tent I can borrow and SWMBO has already made other plans that weekend so I can do whatever I like.

I will be there for the day no matter what. Just need to work out if I'm definitely going to camp or not. Depends slightly on the boy and his mum's work. I'd like to bring him up but a day of us old nerdy sods will see him pretty bored I'm sure. I also have an FL friend who is interested. Is there a deadline for confirming 1) numbers on the day and 2) confirmation of camping?

@Nodge68 have you thought anymore about this?

I have a holiday abroad coming up next week so can't get my head around much else until I get back but I would love to attend if I can make it work.
I managed a day trip to Dublin last week with a round trip of around 225 miles so I know I can now go further than was realistic before but I need to do some research before committing. The most realistic route is to drive to Rosslare (200 miles) then a ferry to Fishguard and on to North Devon so another 200 or so miles. This will mean an overnight stop enroute so I'll need to factor that in.
Still it would be a lot of fun and a huge achievement if I could do it. :)
