That's what I'm trying to achieve yes. Not that it's urgent right now as I can't drive it until I fit the new air spring.
Did you do it with the engine running?
Apply the brake pedal 3 times within 10 seconds and hold after the 3rd press.
Apply the electronic parking brake switch 4 times, followed by 3 release applications within 10 seconds.

If it's it has the handbrake via the disks and not shoes then the rear brake action alone beds the pads
Do you have rear brake drums in the center of the disks?

So since its been sat outside home looking sorry for itself and hasn't even been started since the 28th of may when it flagged a fault,
Fired right up and i took it too the 24hr garage (a whole 0.4 miles each way) But.... i did see my pal who has a 2005 530d with a 6hp26 in it and its just away to run out of test so went and drove that, box is nice and smooth no hassle so iv bought the car and iv ordered fluid, pan, seals, bridge seal, and away to use the 530d valve body change them bits in the box and reset the adaptions and go do its 200miles to learn its shift and clutch points and see if it behaves again,

I did also get myself a 2009 730d auto as a dinger since my kids mum still has my 350quid mondeo, but its a 6hp28 and i think thats a different valve body and its already mapped to 300bhp and 450ibft so i think thats the better donor for my already bmw swapped transit 😅

Drums in the centre of the discs. Exactly the same as my facelift 3.6 and I had no issue at all. I can't see that I'm doing anything different to what I did before or what is in this detail, Kermit's description or any video I've watched! I always hated drums and shoes but these are so easy to swap and adjust, I can't believe the bit I've failed on is pressing the brake and pulling & pushing the bloody switch.

I'll try again once the air spring is replaced, it can sit on the drive and I can sulk until then. :)

Aha, OK one word of advice is to let the shoes cool between stops. Depending on the quality of the shoe they can overheat and shed the material 😱

i think you had the sequence the wrong way around

Thankfully mine's been behaving for the last few weeks, busy going to and from night work, a couple of social events, mostly motorway work. I tend to get though about £100-worth of diesel a week, car says 27.8mpg. But that depends on whether me or the other half uses the car. i use cruise control when I can and manage 32mpg...Apart from the clonking from the offside front ball joints and suspension arms, it seems to be doing ok.

Coming out of Tesco's this afternoon had to stop to let pedestrians cross. There were 2 oriental lads beaming and smiling at the Rangie. They both got their phones out and started taking pics. Then stood there giving me the thumbs up sign with big happy smiles on their faces. You know what I thanked them and had a big smile too with a warm glow inside. Made my day that did. Thanks lads who ever you are 👍 :D:D
