Hi guys,

Got a Defender td5 2001. I am aware of all the naysayers and everyone claiming that can never be done etc.

I have a 2001 td5 defender - I want to hear - has anyone actually successfully converted v5c from a light utility vehicle to an estate/CSW?
I refuse to believe that noone amongst all of us has ever been able to?

For reference I have added sliding back rear windows, a full interior and full two rows of seats to the back of defender. Is this enough evidence for DVLA to send in with V5C?

Cheers

I think the issue you will face is there were factory station wagons registered as light utility. So the dvla just points to those and says you already have the correct category.
I assume you are looking at ulez etc?

I have just converted mine to a station wagon but as it is an ‘89 and I don’t live in the city I have no interest in changing the v5 category and will just count down the MOT’s until it is a historic.

Hey Dag - yeah it is ULEZ. An utter pain - and realise they will bat back on it. I just cant fathom that there's a reason they provide means to change it if it clearly isn't utilised and has been changed to something that isn't a light good vehicle

And surely there must be some successful ones amongst us that have managed it?
