... that I had my NHS dental check-up today. :)
Back before the system got overloaded with billions of illegal immigrants sucking up the service capacity and before Covid you used to get a check-up EVERY 6 months as part of the NHS dentistry contract. During Covid it just stopped or went to 15 months, now it's every 9 months. The NHS check-up used to include descaling at every visit. NOW they want you to see their "Dental Hygienist", which is a "private service" that costs c. £45 per go. What they don't tell you is that the £45 is split equally between the Hygienist and the "practice". ;) Ker-Ching!!
My good friend who was a dentist in the UK for over 35 years informs me that there is NO CLINICAL EVIDENCE to support treatment by a "dental hygienist" having any positive outcome on your dental health.
They're cheaper than a full blown dentist. Thas all.

---and all the profits go to shareholders instead of being ploughed back into repairs, maintenance and upgrades. The country's population has risen considerably since the infrastructure was installed and the demand for fresh water and waste water treatment has gone up. Lack of investment to meet demands. And of course, we the customers don't want to pay any more.
They borrow from the stock market assits cheaper than banks. Who would want to lend them billions. There's loads of investment but that ain't a good headline. Peeps will tell yer the likes of thames ain't invested 1 sov but dun't know anyfink about the big poo pipe thats just gone in. My water pipes have just bin replaced fer free. Tis a regulated industry. Regulator can force them to spend more if profits are too high. Water is our cheapest utility. We've spent decades not wanting to invest innit. If it weren't sold oft years ago it would be the same. Haggis water and norfern ireland are still state owned. Both wiv the same troubles. Most of what water companies do is contracted out so it dun't matter who owns it. Private companies still doing the wuk.

...so the old gal is still in the orspital and may be there for a few days more.
She is really bored but doesn't have the mental capacity/attention-span to relieve the boredom.
The wound infection was so large the debridement has left a huge gap/hole in her leg.
How long will it take for that to heal in a 95YO? They are waiting for a Max-Fax (plastic surgeon) to come over from the specialist unit at Broomfield hospital and advise on the likelihood of a graft being successful. My fear for the old gal is twofold; firstly where are they going to take a graft from on a scrawny 95YO, and secondly, a graft site is just another wound open to infection and the old gal is no longer the most sanitary in her habits or environment.
It is a real dilemma. I think she should go into 24x7 care. But she isn't my Mum. :(

When I bought my first Wimblowdriver Towers and started doing my own plumbering, I quickly learned that it takes three visits to the plumbers merchant (pre-diy superstore days) to get all the right bits for the job. And end up with odd bits that finish up in a box in the loft for the rest of eternity.

Read a article on that , as so many wimins are on the pill now thay cannot filter the hormones out so ends up in the drinking water that's the reason for so many hairdressers and FL drivers and transers 😯😯
We have a neighbour who says this. He also says that nearly all the fish in the Seine in Paris are hermaphrodite due to the same reason.

Hmmm! 😲 😲 😲

Too true!
Especially when trying to marry up Brit baths etc with Frog stuff. But thank the lord for BSP! :):)

yesterday I took down a redundant satellite dish and its cable runs. The cables had been run inside a gutter down the side of me house and had accumulated a lot of muck as a result. So it was me up a ladder (gutter is about 3m above ground) and as the muck was dry and crumbly, I used my trusty industrial strength vac to clean it all out. Job done. Thought vac-ing it out would be better than sluicing it to the downpipe and therefore into the soakaway.
