Good morning everyone,
I bought a hydraulic press - 6 tons.
I thought it would make it totally relaxed. won't it work?

When i did mine it took significantly more effort to get the old ones out. Lots of cutting, drilling and hammering with a big chisel

Good, I am motivated. I have cleaned the arm a little. I'll paint it later.
This is how I imagined my action. Will it work? somehow my press seems puny.

I also used the "drill near to the plastic outer method". Much easier than trying to press the old bushes out.

You will definitely need either the proper tool, or several jubilie clamps & the taper bearing for the new bushes.

Good evening everyone,

One more question:
The red marking is black - probably the remains of the other control arm bush. Should I sand off the black or just leave it as it is?

Hello everyone,
ok, the first attempt has failed. I have destroyed the bush. I have 3 more attempts.
It started well, the first 2-3 mm - then tilted and the plastic ‘inflated’.
Then i carried out further tests with the broken bushing.
The press is absolutely ok, has enough power, I'm sure of that.
Aligning it perfectly is the problem. I thought I would also use the ‘’ sleeve ‘’ for the next test. Will it do any good? I would be grateful for any tips - I need the car tomorrow.

the new bushes also seem too big to me, but apparently that's the way it has to be.

I have read several times that you should put the bushings in the freezer beforehand??

Did you chamfer / bevel the end of the bush plastic outer ? If not it's difficult / impossible to even get it started.

Ring compressor is a good idea, but with jubilee clamps you can remove them one at a time as the bush goes in.

Definitely put the bushes in the freezer overnight and if you have an electric het gun, warm up the housing a bit.

Thanks for the feedback!
The socket already has a ‘chamfer / bevel’ on one side - marked in red. Is that not enough? Should I remove more?
I have the matching ‘jubilee clamps’ - I'll fit them tomorrow.

I've used multi-purpose grease - I hope that's ok.

Looking forward to tomorrow! Thank you very much!

When I did mine I did the chamfer about 5-6mm. Next I do some, I plan to buy one of those taper bearing races (unless someone nearby has the LR tool).
