Right, changed the steering fluid and the noise is still there. It goes away when I'm accelerating but comes back when the cars idling.

They can be taken off with like a pliers and screwdriver. They need a special tool to clamp them on better off replacing them. They are stronger than usual clips but old by now. Check other end see if it been done already tuther side or if it can...

They could be factory. Be careful twisting them incase you break the reservoir ends🤯

Are they factory fitted. If that's the case then the fluid likely has never been changed. I'll see if I can peel the tabs off with a thin flathead screwdriver. The tabs are around the back which makes this a nightmare...

I used something like a Dremel very carefully.

Normally they end up being destroyed so have a couple small jubilee clips to replace them👍 You'll find one end can be levered off🤔

Cheers. It's not a electronic pump it's just a manual one. Could that do damage/how would it damage it? Would I have to jack the front tyres up off the ground or is there another way like putting cardboard under the wheels?

Careful with the vacuum pump, it may do damage. I do not remember which is the return pipe so it's trial and error. Better put the return into a bucket and let the pump do the pumping IMO.

I was going to pump out the old oil in the reservoir remove the return line (blocking off the return nozzle on the reservoir) then refill the reservoir with clean fluid & vacuum pump the old stuff through the system while drawing the fresh fluid...

+1. New Dexron 3 in the steering reservoir. You can undo the 2 8 mm studs and turn it upside down. Refill, drive for a week or so and then do again.

Which is the inlet and which is the outlet hose on the steering fluid reservoir?

I just took one of the pipes off the reservoir and let it drain, takes any crud out at the same time.

That's the stuff, not sure how much as I have a 20 litre drum of the stuff and just pumped it in.

Most likely burnt🤯 I draw the old oil out with a vacuum pump, Refill, run the engine while steering left to right fully and continue like that until I'm happy with final color after draining and refilling repeatedly. 👍

I think the oil might be black looking which indicates its contaminated.

Just checked, haven't got it anymore, I remember it caused issues with storage or memory or something on my phone as that's all I have. I'm pretty sure I downloaded it off one of the p38 Facebook groups so have a look under their files.

I did. Can't remember if I had an issue or not though. I don't think I've got it anymore (but I'll check) as I got the paper version last year.

I have never tried to run RAVE on Android, it runs under Acrobat so it might be possible, others with more up to date knowledge than me may know. Edit. I have just Googled it and it seems that Android does support the use of Acrobat PDF
