Right so I've changed - MAF Unplugged Crank sensor / Needle lift sensor / Coolant sensor / TPS Problem still remains, upon unplugging the crank sensor, needle lift, coolant and TPS check engine light comes on and stays on all the time which I guess is expected...

Just as an update got a replacement (second hand) MAF from ebay... checked it with mmeter and resistance now changes when you push the flap open so its doing more than my previous one. However fault still remains. Presuming now its the TPS sensor however unsure as to how the engine actually...

Presuming its a 300 tdi EDC Auto? Not sure if the earlier ones had a "check engine light" as they had no ECU? The EDC takes input from - MAF (and the thermister inside MAF for intake temp.) Throttle potentiometer Boost pressure sensor Injector 4 Needle lift...

I'd very much doubt the sensors etc.. are there nor the air bag control module - is it really worth the bother? Why not just fit the dash but just not wire in the airbag? In all honesty, in a disco 1 in a front end collision... whats an airbag going to bring to the party? They aren't renowned...

Hi Colin Thing is when the check engine light comes on the engine goes into limp mode... you can tell this because it struggles to get up the hills until i take my foot off the accelerator, causing the check engine light to go off and then i get power back until it comes on again! Matt

Another question (sorry!)... I'm confused as to whether I've got an EDC or a none-EDC auto - reason being is its got a MAF, a check engine light and a boost pressure sensor on the bulkhead which I believe are all EDC components. However the injector pump appears to have a throttle cable on it...

Thanks guys. How easy is it to check the timing? Paul - what should happen if the MAF is unplugged? I took the vehicle to a local landrover garage and he suggested that the MAF is not needed and is part of the EGR setup, but I'm not so sure, my understanding is the MAF sends back to the ecu...

Still got this problem.. the 300tdi is sounding like a tractor pretty much all the time now... it does occasionally go "smooth" (no rattle/knocking) but then it starts rattling again. I've bled the fuel system using the bleed screw/lift pump - fuel comes out under pressure when i use the lift...
