Just a thought, the jet in an SU isn't adjustable
All the jets are the same size and fixed in HIF 38 carb for instance, just have different needles for different cars
100 thou. So 1/10 of an inch. Without measuring it, just looking at by eye on your pic, that looks to me a bit more than that.
Just saying. Have you actually measured it?
And I am not sure who you are referring to, is it you, being ironic about...
" it allows the synchros, which may be slightly worn, to disengage and engage."
This is a bit mad, but I only learned the other day, and this is after having rebuilt a few gearboxes, ,that the synchro rings do not stay stuck to the...
No, SW but far east corner of the TARN, touching on the Aude and the Herault.
I'll have to look up 32! 🤣
Aha, the dept which contains the famous place Condom!!
I think another member who lives over here may be a bit closer to you than we are.
@Stanleysteamer well, well, well. Here is our SU carb "expert tuner" showing us all a perfect plug after a tuning session.
Just like the guy in the YT clip advised look at the fire mark/band on the earth strap of the plug. 100thou' band just...
Yes I know. If you wind the jet DOWN the mixture is enriched across the entire needle profile as the needle moves up and down.
Contouring the needle at the relevant "stations" affects the mixture at the station-specific rev-range.
The needle...
I had noticed that the pre-ignition "bang" seemed to always occur when trying to accelerate from a low (15-20) speed. I know generally how the SU carb works and I realised that if the throttle was suddenly opened that the dashpot would rise and...

Hi everyone
We have owned our 2011 Freelander 11 TD4 for over 8 years. From Ireland to Greece and now to France she has given us brilliant reliability and few issues aside from completely random temperamental central locking which has been dodgy...
I must admit that if it had been me I would maybe have done both of these but I would have done them one at a time to see which had the effect.
Predetonation I would have imagined coming from the timing being slightly too advanced, yet you have...
Only in France could there be a row about making mineral water cleaner and purer, by NOT sticking chemicals into it.

Reinsurance, professional warping!
And according to Murphy's Law
the necessary tool and the original bolts arrived today,:(
... three days after the repair
.... "telle est la vie"
...that like the Chinese said about the success of the French revolution on its 200th anniversary "It is maybe too early to tell"; but, since advancing the timing slightly and changing the 20w oil for 30w oil in the dashpot the mini has not had...
Cars I drove when I first started driving never had synchro on 1st.
And were often worn in 2nd.
I was taught to take it from first then pause in neutral then put it in 2nd.
In fact you should do that in all gear changes to allow the synchromesh...
