    There is only 1 output shaft from any gearbox. They change to 4wd drive with that fancy thing called a transfer box. There are many auto boxes used in 2 or 4 wd format. Your arguments show you shouldn’t be allowed to pickup a spanner. J

    If it went down one of the oil returns, chances are it's in the sump ? From that angle, my bet would be it bounced on chassis or drive shafts & is lodged or stuck to an oily bit below. If it hit the ground it could have bounced anywhere...
