What have you done to your Freelander today

For me there's no need for plastic bags. The hair that is left is short and I can clean them with brake cleaner if needed. ;)

The alternator is near the engine oil filter housing. I'm quite good with the filter replacement, no oil spills at that end.

Changed the engine oil and filter. Went to check the oil level in manual gearbox. The fill plug placement is just....but there's enough space to do it...and get a gear oil treatment on your hair

Did a underside check today, now when the winter is over. Propshaft carrier bearings still tight, diff doesn't move exessively, couple of rust spots haven't got any worse - nothing to worry. Then I remembered that I didn't replace the rubber turbo hose when I changed all the other ones. Found...

Help needed looking to by my first landrover

Good luck searching, Disco's are awesome. Relics in a way but very cool vehicles. I remember looking for mine months. Wanted one without sunroofs, just don't need those in a car and they typically leak. Then found one relatively close. It had the original Warn winch, had the locking centre diff...

We did our annual Christmas trip to see relatives up north, 1200km. My oil & filter frequency has been 4000km's or 6 months and after a longer trip it was time for a service. It's also relaxing to do something useful while on holidays.

Replaced my both lower rear lights and the driver side upper light. Had small cracks on the originals and the lower lights had moisture accumulation in them. Also changed to studded winter tyres, the Wildpeaks were great even in slush & snow but they are not really designed to arctic...

The ball joint is typically riveted to the suspension arm. You can either replace the ball joint or the whole control arm.

    Rear brakes TD4

Mine keeps getting completely stuck every year. I free it up so it moves without any resistance and give it a little lube before reassembling. The lever has so little tolerance that it just jams due to dirt and corrosion in the metal.

I've been there too with the handbrake... What I have learned is that it's critical that: The contact points are clean & lubed lightly, so that shoes move easily against them. The handbrake adjuster moves freely. This one seems to seize up every year for me. The nordic winter probably doesn't...

    Over(free)landing

I'd learn and train myself to do most of usual repairs that can go wrong and make you stop on the road. And take the spares & needed tools with me. These would be brakes related, fuel pumps, filters. Even wheel bearings, though these probably would need to find a garage but you bring the right...
