Hello I am in the process of removing the high pressure pump, everything is out / off bar the sprocket nut. How do I find TDC to fit the locking pin to stop the engine turning when I undo this nut? Thanks

Happy to report that the job is done and the car is now driving fine... much better acceleration, no loss of power and no more smoke... The job is much easier if the exhaust downpipe is removed and getting the turbo back in can be... stressful.. but it is all done. Thanks for the help

So, turbo rebuilt and all seems fine... just have a question... The sealing washers on the oil feed pipe.. and the bolts... How many washers should there be? I have 3... 2 on the turbo end and one on the engine end... And the bolts are different.. which goes where? I should have made a...

It is quite a simple rebuild using the CHRA... and with it apart it is well worth the £100 to do it...

It's not that the bearings are allowing movement.. they feel very gritty and the movement of the turbine is not smooth... I think the CHRA is a good option while it is all out :)

The bearings are noisy and feel gritty... they should move freely.. there is not a lot of lateral movement in them... but the turbine is not spinning freely..

Thanks 12mm spline was needed.. and I removed the exhaust downpipe for easy access.. It is all out.. and looks like the bearings are knackered... very stiff and noisy when trying to spin... I may well look at a recon, or perhaps a cartridge replacement... Thanks for the help

I am talking about the bolts in the base of the air box that hold the turbo in place.... I thought they were 13mm bolts but someone posted that they are torx of some description.. but that may on older models... Thanks

I've just read something else that says those 3 bolts are torx.. is that true? Could explain a lot..

So... tried removing turbo today to check it.... On the intake / compressor side from the air box, should there be a jubilee clip or something holding that pipe onto the turbo? Mine has nothing.. Also, getting the bolts out of the top through the airbox.. really struggling with getting a 13mm...

I have both... and I get constant errors trying to connect.. Although I don't think it is a real elm327... think it is a compatible...

Actually boost seems less than on my dads one... his hoses get much harder than mine (sounds very bad) EGR seems to be closed fine... I could get a blanking kit I guess.. I cleaned the inlet manifold and the MAP sensor etc.. but could check again as it was a while ago... I'll also see if I...

Injectors were all tested and fine.. EGR is disconnected and the vacuum hose sealed.. I have had the intercooler hoses off and see no signs of splits or holes.. and with the engine running I put my hand over each of the hoses which pressurised.. and no hissing or apparent leaks.. I am still...

Unfortunately I don't have access to the solus now... As for boost leak... I tried spraying soapy liquid around hoses and joints to check... and as a second try I used carb cleaner.. no change in engine note at all... I am loathed to try yet another replacement MAF as well... it has had at...

I have also removed the vacuum from the EGR just in case... A friend plugged in a solus machine which showed old errors, including the boost solenoid (which has been changed), but no new codes are being stored.. and the live data all seems OK... things like expected and actual fuel pressure etc...
