it was the feckin PRT ! stripped the whole cooling system and checked it all, the PRT even opened when i poured boiling water through it in the kitchen....... i was literally about to go back to no thermostat and i decided while its hot i'll just smack the stat housing with a spanner... hey...

that would make sense as to why the stereo turns itself off then on again when driving too actually, nice one i'll check that today!

back again guys... my 1.8 kseries is at it again, driving through germany last week all seemed good, just replaced the inlet manifold gasket, prt been good since winter.... drove for about 45 mins on the autobahn ( sensibly i might add it was 35 degrees outside) no faster than 70 mainly...

any idea if i need a metric or imperial kit by the way?

hello AGAIN guys :boom: i had an oil leak into the well of one of the plugs, which i thought was the rocker cover gasket, so after buying the correct kind of torque wrench and a new gasket, i tried to check that the bolts were actually at the correct torque before doing a refit and low and...

well... i've never done anything like that on my own before, am i a grown up now or just a mug with a dog of a car :p seriously though it was easy to do and the car runs MUCH better than with no thermostat at all, shocking hey! thank you for the help,I'm sure i'll be back for more soon!

cool :) so can i just take that whole elbow piece out and use the old hose? just i can't see where the extra small fitting would attach to otherwise...:confused:

hello guys, 1.8 kseries cooling question again! i got sent the wrong prt and hose assembly, the grey one instead of the cream one, and wondered if someone a little more clued up can tell if i can just take out the elbow piece that's extra on the grey one ,and use it anyway... will the 6 degree...

hello guys, i've not got the handbook for my 2000 1.8 s, i reckon the lapdancer that was probably the original owner probably still has it :D can someone tell me what the dash light that looks like a motorway symbol is ? it's not lit up or anything i just have no idea what it is if it ever...
