I will have a look the weekend, is it case of talking the transfer box off the car, or is there a cover plate at all, if changing the belt are there any other parts within the box that would be an idea to change at all cheers

It's coming upto 118,000 at the mo it's never really towed anything, the odd trailer now and again but nothing major ?

The sound is only there when u accelerate hard or up a steep incline, no noise at idle or if u just pull off slowly or cruising it's only when u accelerate hard. The noise is more like a series of clunks which stops if u ease up or becomes louder and more frequent if u push it more cheers

I am starting to think it might be gearbox as today when I put my foot down it still made the clunking noise, but it also hesitated before if changed down then jerked forward.

As I was hoping to get it sorted myself without forking out at garage

Hi mate there is no movement like that just left and right turning, I looked at the transfer box but that sound as mentioned earlier is not the same. If wouldn't be anything within the gearbox would it ?

Should there be any movement in the front diff, when I took the prop off you can turn the diff a little each way ?

If it was the diff would it not make noise constantly it only does it when going up a hill or u put ur foot down a bit ?

Right lads took props off again, rechecked everything and there is no play at all re-greased and re fitted and took it for a drive and noise is still there doing my head in proper.

Cheers mate will take it off again and double check, I used spanners to tighten the bolts (all new bolts too) if it has play is it a case of a new prop shaft ?

Hi everyone yes there is vibration coming from the gearbox tunnel when u put it foot down, if u rev it at a standstill there is no noise at all, what parts are serviceable on the front prop as I just changed the uj's I never checked anything else ?

When the car is coasting it won't make the noise only when u put ur foot down, or when it's really underload say going up a steep incline will it make the noise, it definitely sounds like it's from the front and more so the drive train cheers
