Disco 2 3 Amigos and slight brake squeal.

Thank you for all of your input, funnily enough the pressure washer has had zero effect . I hasten to add that it wasnt on this forum that I read about brake dust being a cause, it was justified by the poster by saying that the squeal (vibration) can cause the sensor to detect fault, however...

Disco 2 3 Amigos and slight brake squeal.

Good Morning all. Quick question, 3 amigos lit up about 2 weeks ago 2hrs into a 2 1/2 hr trip, almost without warning apart from a slight brake squeal. Reading up on forum posts I'm fingers crossed its brake dust causing it. I'm going to give it a blast with the jet wash to start with before I...

    Bonnet Release

That may be the case but not for this one, a long screwdriver and it's open but no sign of a security shroud so this may not be the first time this has happened on this heap of sh**!

    Bonnet Release

Well, f*** me I guess this is either a longbridge friday special or this has happened before. No security shroud, just insert long screwdriver push arm sideways, bonnet opens. Leaves me with 6hrs and 15 minutes to work out a temporary/permanent bodge/fix Your positivity paid off diesel dog

    Bonnet Release

99 Disco 2 problems are becoming a bi monthly event !!! Injector harness gave up a month or so ago, Top hose blew 2 weeks ago, I've developed a power steering box leak resembling something out of Friday 13th and now the bonnet release handle has snapped! I've tried pulling it with mole grips and...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

No, I dont think so, which bit is that? The bulkhead got in the way when trying to put the cover back on whilst keeping the gasket in place.

Replaced injector loom and cleaned out the ecu. Rocker cover was a bit of a pita to get back on!

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

I've only cut what would be replaced anyway. Are you saying I can replace the steel pipe with hydraulic hoses to feed the rams?

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

Ok, rear pipes now both capped off using 10 mm compression ends from screwfix and so far so good, at least I'm not coating any following vehicles with fluid, the back of the truck just needs a tan now and wouldn't look out of place on Miami beach!

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

Found 10mm compression end caps at screwfix, I'm hoping that removing the relay has inhibited the system so that the 100+ bar pressure can't be achieved and the end caps stay put. Suck it and see I guess and get the bypass tensioner ordered. Thank you all.

Thanks sierafery, is it nanocom that can change to ECU to non ACE then?

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

Thanks MJI, any idea where I can find 10mm screw fit end caps? Are they self threading or does a thread need to be tapped/died (is that a word?).

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

Sorry if I wasn't clear, no intention of getting rid of the bags and compressor, just the ACE system. My understanding is that I need to then replace with anti roll bars etc from the conversion kit.

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

Update: Ok, so I think I've decided that ACE can go, the system is 20 years old this year and I'm sure is just going to cause me more problems. I've pulled the ACE relay to try and stem the flow a little, I'm going to order a bypass tensioner and belt for the interim until I can source the...

    Disco 2 ACE fluid flood!

Hi all, Only just happened so bear with me. Approximately 7 miles after taking a corner in a somewhat spirited fashion I get a red flashing ACE light and bongs. I stop and discover the reservoir is empty. Halfrauds is a short distance away so off I go and fill the reservoir, fingers crossed. 10...
