My gearbox did not have a hard time, it had about three days of missing gear changes on a 10 minute drive, and then I stopped driving it, found the leak, fixed it and filled it up again.
I was not offended by it. But have a look at the second comment. Then the third comment, the fourth comment, the fifth comment, the six comment etc.
But if you want to call it banter then everything that I have said back to you guys is just...
I'm not driving it there to scrap it on this trip, instead I need it to make it all the way there and back without any problems. I have stated repeatedly that this will be a return trip.
It may be another few years before I leave England and at...
I will leave England for somewhere else in Europe and I have three dogs so I will need to drive to my new home.
I will take my current car there and wreck it.
Unless somebody wants to come and buy the car from me and drive the car back to...
I have the o-rings and I will tell you how it goes when I do it.
On the seal I contacted a distributor of SKF and they think that they can help me.
I am waiting to hear back from them next week before I do the work on the car.
All I am saying is that the ZF 8 speed gearbox is not optimized for British speeds.
Yes it is used by many manufacturers but it is made in Germany and they will have considered the autobahn.
Anyway I'm not really concerned about this because my...
I didn't want to know the answer to my question, I was just pointing out that a question can be worded in a way to be an insult to somebody.
Given all of the insults that I've had here I just assumed it was another one.
If you wanted to ask...
My OBD reader is iCarSoft and it is great.
For my specific model of L322 none of the OBD readers or the SSD computers can work on the suspension settings.
I spent 2 weeks researching which one to buy.
Only the gap tool can do what I need, or a...
And DIRECTLY after that I said...
"But my major concern is running the engine for a long time on a highway at a higher RPM than necessary."
Do you have any more gotcha questions?
That's not exactly what Phil said but I'm not going to argue the details with you.
Differential changes may have an effect on the gearbox but that will be on every gearbox not anything unique to my specific gearbox.
You asked me a specific...
I looked at your PDFs.
While the gearbox has those two sensors it also has information about which gear it is in, the road speed of the car (from the ABS), the throttle position and the RPM of the engine.
I'm not surprised that the eight speed...
I think that what happened was that when you asked me that question I had already had a lot of nasty condescending comments and I was done being nice.
I probably thought that you were asking me for stuff that was not relevant, as a way of...
Another gotcha question!!!
You guys are ridiculous.
What does that have to do with the topic that I came here to answer?
Let me teach you a little trick, when you drain your gearbox in order to change the filter you see how much fluid comes...
No you don't, because I only comment here when I see the little red alert and then I read the next idiot comment.
You personally don't live rent free in my head because I don't even know who you are.
But given that you have continued to come...
If any of you has just started with the presumption that I wasn't an idiot then this whole discussion would've gone a completely different way.
My comments are in response to how I was treated and that is a reflection of the people here, not me...
Oh you don't remain rent-free in my head, as all of you idiots are just a big blur to me.
One of you said something to imply that I actually remember who says what.
I just look at the comment, see how dumb it is, and then respond, while...
Actually the person asked me a question that would take 10 seconds to find on Google and I suggested that they look it up because it was a question unrelated to my question.
They wanted to know all of the gear ratios for the L322, and they also...
Now we are getting somewhere. Real issues without the "I know everything" attitude.
The lockup occurs at around 50 mph and will obviously be affected by RPM and throttle.
But a car with a trailer will have the same RPM but a higher throttle...
On the P38, torque convertor lock up is not wheel speed related as far as I can determine but engine revs related. Lock up in third happens at about the same revs as lock up in top but at lower road speed of course and depends on throttle...
Here is the funny thing, the biggest actual potential problem that I have so far been alerted to is the torque converter lockup.
Here is what the ZF5HP guru RRPhil said on another forum: "Some aspects of the driveline control are vehicle speed...
I have no concern for how I seem here.
I asked a simple question and I was insulted and attacked from the start.
Those people will never change their opinion of me, especially after I called them out on their ridiculous behavior.
I will not...
I think you are imagining an extreme situation and not looking at this in reality.
For example, someone else said that the oil pressure would be lower and that would damage the engine.
But I can drive now at 40mph at the same approximate revs...
You bothered because this is the right thing to do, share the information that you have with people that are looking for solutions.
I have found an SKF distributor near me and I will email them and see if they can help.
Thank you for your effort.
FNL is flanged housing designation from SKF. TFL is the size of the double lip seal that goes in it.
Little bit confused with the lettering/number on the seal, but It may be a place to start and ring an SKF place.
Dont know why I bother, but...
I found the o-rings on simplybearings.co.uk who have a simple page where you put in all of the dimensions and find the product.
I ordered both of the o-rings that you suggested, getting five of each o-ring because it was only a few pence more...
On a different forum someone explained the outcome, because they knew someone who did something like this, and they said it was fine, just less acceleration.
