Ostonfamily,
I used coach enamel and painted it with a radiator roller from my local hardware store, no streaks or runs, well pleased. I tried to copy a Mini cooper S colour, not exactly the same but happy enough with the result.
Just gave the 90 a facelift.
Picked up a genuine LR SVX grille and light set in gloss black.
Then changed the colour to orange. I saw a Mini cooper S with a lovely orange colour and tried to copy it.
Got a litre of coach enamel for a tenner and a radiator roller from B and Q.
Painted the roof...
Hello everyone,
I painted my defender about 18 months ago using a commercial coach enamel applied with a radiator roller from B and Q. Turned out extra well.
I'm looking to change the colour to one similar to the Heritage edition defenders currently on sale. I'm told it is Grasmere Green.
Does...
I have a 1991 90 hardtop tdi 200 with goodyear g90's 750/16s fitted. Any idea if these tyres are suitable in the snow, I know for rock, mud and sand they are great but would like to be prepared for the upcoming winter.
Enough said, bolloxing up the wheel bearings would be unacceptable, I'll stick with the steel rims. I'm running on Goodyear G90's, a bit noisy on the tarmac but excellent in the rough. Cheers Mike for the reply.
Hello everyone,
I'm considering putting a set of alloys onto my 1991 90 200 tdi.
I've been offered a set from a later defender and I'm told they will fit but will need spacers because I have drum brakes on the rear. I see a set of spacers from a local parts dealer at £150. Puts the cost up a...
Hello everyone,
I have a 1991 90 hard top tdi 200 and was wondering about the effectiveness of the tyres I have fitted. They are Goodyear G90's 750 x 16. They are excellent for sand, rocks and mud but I was wondering if they are good when the snow comes. Does anyone else have them fitted? And...
Make sure you chock the wheels and take the handbrake off to check the rear prop, I've just looked at mine and the rear uj on the rear prop is hanging out.
Hello Brown,
Funny you mentioned the parts I have already replaced. Transfer box output shaft bearing was first, then uj's on either end of the propshaft.
I was wondering if the brake drum is the cause, not too hard to pull it apart and check.
Hello everyone,
Changed my computer and lost my old stuff so had to join again as a new guy.
I've enjoyed great support from you lads, with the wealth of experience.
Looking forward to sharing stories and pics.
Good luck.
