Do they not start in the "locked" position then go lose shortly after?
I thought in general they usually fail in the lose position.
Sorry for the crap technical terms, engine bay looks proper tidy.
What brand rad did you buy in the end?
Hmm maybe. I’ll run for bit but thought I would’ve noticed before. Unless it’s on the wrong way which it surely couldn’t be 😂
It’s Nissens rad. Bloody minefield trying to work out what to buy. I check it all over enough and have low coolant...
Are you getting upset because we gave you an answer you don't like?
A D3 will cost you plenty, it's a knackered old luxury 4x4.
A D2 is also the same but less expensive to put right, they don't all have ace you know.
Many green laning idiots have...
So you want a fast off-road vehicle that handles well doesn’t wallow is good on fuel and low on maintenance….
Not a ‘proper 4x4’ as I don’t think that exists with the above must haves but a would a forester not cover most of it?
Suzuki vitara? I...
It’s so strange how some stay good here and others rot out. Largely depends on how good the alpine seals and is the seal land has rusted I guess. My resto has 0 damage here but plenty elsewhere lol
Brilliant, thank you! Just ground all the sealant and paint off and I can see the spot welds now - had to go back a bit from the section I was looking at because all that metal has gone.
Time to start drilling! I was hoping not to have to do...
Hi max, I can’t actually remember the exact details but when I look at it it will jog my memory. I’m pretty sure dippy is right and where you have your black circle there’s spot welds. In the corner itself, there’s an actual box structure made up...
Being a youngster you are meant to do stupid things so just buy one. I bought plenty of impractical vehicles when I was young without any thought what so ever. It's far easier now with the Internet to gain knowledge and find parts than it was...
Hi all,
As above, 300tdi disco. Don’t have any other electrical faults. I suspect battery isn’t the best after it was stood lots in winter.
Would a sluggish battery cause this? I.e. full beam won’t run until alternator has topped up the battery...
I’ve an old 3 door disco commercial. I’ve done a thread on it called ‘pig’ if you’re interested. It’s an honest old bus. Its had a bit of interior abuse. I stuck a new carpet in, gaiters etc. yet to do headliner - it’s pinned up by the sun visors...
Hiya
Funny enough I noticed that as well when I was looking for one
It was the same when I finally bought my D3 as it was like a boat , then after I virtually rebuilt the suspension and got it perfect the difference was like night and day
All...
So you want to spend £2-5k on a D3, use it as a daily, take it green-laning, but not spend lots on maintenance and repairs?
Good luck!
You might get lucky. You need to find one that has been loved but is still cheap(?), so as @lynall says, I’d...
I wouldn’t go near any pick-up at that price mate but your right on the ranger - my farmer mate runs too that get absolutely battered and can’t be worth much and he doesn’t actually seem to have many problems other than rust.
The spec b don’t...
Compared to what alternative pickups? L200 in your price range is junk, isuzu of that age you’d likely hate.
A Land Rover of any guise is expensive to maintain and it sucks you in to doing upgrades, tweaks and niggles. They are big 4x4s with...
Gotta remember these were high end vehicles despite being cheap now. I’ve had very few premium vehicles that have had much change left after a grand in maintenance.
A d2 with a good chassis wouldn’t cost the earth to maintain? 15p with good...
That’s a lot of parts now installed and unknowns rectified. I’ve record of the cambelt being done - previous owner seemed to keep ontop of it so I’m content with that.
Cooling didn’t seem bad - my temp sender is in the stat housing so think it...
She looks mean mate 😎
Did you just drill into the D44 bumper for your spotlight mounts? I’ve got some safaris than I want to install. Ideally wanted to put on the foam A bar but don’t want to drill into that.
One of my disco 1s will need a new windscreen in order to pass MOT. Has a nice crack along the bottom and looks like someone’s fired a .22 at the drivers face.
Can anyone recommend a service close to Southampton please?
Decided to make this today.
Straps onto the spare wheel a ratchet strap. Plenty on holes for straps/bungees plus some hooks for wrapping/hanging recovery strops
Even did a little matching basket for stuff and things.
