They do mate via spot welds. Yeah totally get that - it becomes a mare when outside and you can’t keep it sealed up. I’m sure I saw threaded holes right next to the side pieces too but can’t remember now?

If you want to tie into the rear quarters like it is front factory, the rear quarters have 90 degree angle at bottom that the side pieces go to. Also looks like these have been eaten away by tin worm. You going to remove rear quarters?
Exciting times. I had those panels off quicker than you could change a set of wheels 😂
O/S rear quarter. No damage to the seat belt anchoring area on this one. So thankfully again, no damage to to top of the posts. Get in.

Rich had patched up the rear boot floor, which was fine for few years but 30 year old spot weld seams only last so long.
I’ve decided that it will get totally new floor to go with a new rear crossmember. Even managed to snap my spot weld bit so...
